Lifting the Toilet Seat Cover

Admin September 21, 2026

The method for lifting the toilet seat cover (toilet lid) should be selected based on its structural type, as detailed below:

I. Operation Method for Toilet Seat Covers with Slot Structures

  1. Bottom Button Press Style
The slot design of this type of toilet seat cover is typically located on both sides at the bottom. When operating, press both buttons simultaneously with both hands, maintaining even pressure, and then gently push the buckle upwards. During the pushing process, observe the sliding trajectory of the slot and the base. If there is any jamming, slightly adjust the angle and repeat the operation. Do not force it excessively to avoid buckle breakage or plastic deformation.

  2. Hidden Screw Fixing Style
First, locate the screw holes on the back or bottom of the toilet (some models may have them hidden beneath the seat). Use a screwdriver of the corresponding size (usually Phillips or flat-head) to loosen the screws counterclockwise. Once the screws are loose, support both sides of the toilet seat cover with your hands and slowly lift it upwards while adjusting its position. When refastening, ensure the screws are tightened to an appropriate degree to avoid looseness causing wobbling or over-tightening damaging the threads.

II. Operation Method for Ordinary Toilet Seat Covers (Non-Slot Structures)

Ordinary toilet seat covers are usually connected to the seat via hinges. The operation steps are as follows:

  1. Locate the Hinges: Reach behind the toilet with both hands and touch the connection point between the lid and the seat to find the hinges on both sides (some models may have plastic covers over the hinges that need to be pried open first).
  2. Lift Upwards: Pinch the plastic rings on both sides of the hinges with your thumb and index finger and gently lift the edge of the lid upwards while feeling for the looseness of the hinges. If the rings are tight, slightly rotate the lid left and right to assist in separation.
  3. Fully Lift: Once the hinges are loose,顺势 (follow the momentum) lift the lid upwards to a vertical angle with the ground, allowing it to rest against the back of the water tank or a fixed position on the wall. Avoid using excessive force during operation to prevent hinge breakage or the lid from slipping.

III. Operation Precautions

  1. Even Force Application: When adjusting toilet seat covers with slot structures, ensure both sides of the slot move synchronously to avoid breakage due to uneven force application on one side.
  2. Lubrication Treatment: If the plastic slots or hinges feel sticky, apply soapy water or a small amount of lubricating oil to the tracks to reduce friction.
  3. Aging Replacement: For toilet seat covers that have been in use for more than five years, their plastic parts may become brittle due to aging and are prone to breakage during adjustment. It is recommended to directly replace the buckle parts or the entire toilet seat cover.
  4. Safety Protection: Wear gloves before operation to prevent hand injuries from sharp edges. If the toilet seat cover is heavy, it is advisable to have two people collaborate to complete the task.
