Mobile Toilet Ratio for Large Events
Admin October 19, 2026
The ratio of mobile toilets for large events should be comprehensively planned based on the event scale, venue characteristics, and crowd needs, as detailed below:

I. Classification by Event Scale
Events with over 500 attendees
- Basic Ratio: Allocate 3-5 mobile toilets per 100 people. For example, at a 1000-person event, it is recommended to have 3 two-person units (for women), 3 one-person units (for men), and 1 accessible toilet, with additional temporary handwashing stations added during peak hours.
- Gender Ratio: The number of female toilets should be 30%-50% more than male toilets to accommodate higher female usage frequency.
Events with 200-500 attendees
- Option 1: Provide 1 restroom per 50-80 people, with 30% more female toilets than male toilets, and set up 2 accessible restrooms, with the option to add mobile handwashing stations.
- Option 2: Allocate 2-3 toilets per 100 people, increasing to 4-5 for events with over 300 attendees, with a recommended male-to-female ratio of 1:1.5, along with 1 accessible toilet.
II. Supplementary Considerations for Special Scenarios
Mega-events like music festivals and sports competitions
- Ratio Principle: Allocate 1 restroom per 100 people, with the number of female toilets approximately 1.5 times that of male toilets.
- Functional Expansion: Equip with 1 nursing room and 2 accessible restrooms, and plan equipment placement in advance to avoid congestion.
Large-scale exhibitions
- Gender Ratio: The reasonable ratio of male to female restrooms ranges from 2:3 to 1:3, adjusted based on the event type (e.g., tech exhibitions, beauty exhibitions) and the proportion of female attendees.
- National Standards: In venues with high foot traffic, the ratio of female toilet stalls to male toilet stalls (including urinal stalls) should not be less than 2:1 to reduce female waiting times.
Large-scale outdoor events like marathons
- Peak Forecast: With daily foot traffic reaching tens of thousands, allocate male and female toilet stalls at a ratio of 1:1.5 and set up guidance signs at entrances.
- Temporary Supplement: Add temporary toilets based on a standard of 1 toilet per 50-70 people, focusing on start/finish lines and refreshment stations.
III. Key Considerations
- Accessible Facilities: All events, regardless of scale, must provide accessible toilets, with the number adjusted based on the proportion of participants with disabilities.
- Dynamic Adjustment: During peak hours (e.g., event start and end), temporarily increase toilet stalls or handwashing stations and use signs to guide crowd flow.
- Hygiene Maintenance: Large events require dedicated personnel for regular cleaning to prevent hygiene issues due to high usage frequency.
