L-Type Container House Design

Admin September 17, 2026

L-type container house design can be diversified based on different scenarios and needs, covering aspects such as structural layout, interior design, lighting, and ventilation.

Design for Small Residential Homes: In terms of structural layout, two 20-foot containers are selected for L-shaped assembly, with a 3-square-meter balcony left in the middle to facilitate ventilation and lighting. For interior design, one container is divided into a bedroom, while the other serves as a living room and kitchen, separated by lightweight partitions. Hollow cabinets are left on the partitions to increase storage space and allow light to penetrate. For lighting and ventilation, 1.2-meter-wide sliding windows are installed on the sides, and skylights are left on the top, eliminating the need for lights during the day and allowing for ventilation in summer, meeting daily living needs.

Yuantai 'L'-Shaped Container House: The overall structure consists of two container boxes. The ground floor features a rich array of functional areas, including the main entrance, kitchen, dining room, laundry area, and bathroom, arranged in a reasonable and convenient manner. The second-floor design emphasizes the combination of unified elements with traditional solid structures, providing a private and comfortable living environment while considering connectivity and interaction with the first-floor space. The interior space opens up to the courtyard, making full use of natural lighting and ventilation to enhance the living experience, suitable for users with certain requirements for living quality.

L-Shaped Design of Modular Customized Containers: The spatial structure is based on 20/40-foot standard containers as basic units, constructing diverse forms through horizontal assembly and vertical stacking, such as a double-container side-by-side layout, with one side as living space and the other side featuring a loft bedroom to meet different spatial needs. The exterior design supports customization of facade materials and styles, such as metal fluorocarbon paint and anti-corrosion wood veneer, to adapt to the visual needs of different scenarios, suitable for commercial displays and characteristic homestays.

Examples of Innovative Design and Interior Layout: For outdoor space, four 20-foot containers are used to create a spacious deck area through L-shaped structural design, equipped with sunshades to form a ventilated and dry outdoor activity space. Indoors, the walls and floors are laid with imitation wood grain plywood, and the living room is designed as a compact space with screens, exuding a Japanese minimalist style. The functional areas are clearly divided, with the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom independently separated. The dining table is placed next to the kitchen bar for easy access, and small windows are opened to ensure lighting and reduce the sense of confinement.
