Installation of Sliding Doors in Kitchens and Bathrooms

Admin October 09, 2026

Sliding doors can be installed in kitchens and bathrooms, with common options such as minimalist glass sliding doors and hidden overhead-track sliding doors, each meeting different spatial needs and offering distinct advantages.

Types and Advantages of Sliding Doors

  • Minimalist Glass Sliding Doors: These doors do not take up space when opened, making them highly suitable for areas like kitchens and bathrooms, which have relatively limited space and require flexible use. Their minimalist design style can also blend well with various interior decoration styles, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.
  • Hidden Overhead-Track Sliding Doors: One of their major advantages is easy cleaning and maintenance. With the track hidden above, there are fewer dead spots for dust accumulation, making daily cleaning much easier and helping to maintain a clean and tidy space, which aligns with the high hygiene requirements of kitchens and bathrooms.

Installation Points

  • Kitchen Sliding Door Installation: Taking a four-linkage sliding door with an overhead track in an open kitchen as an example, during the carpentry stage, it is necessary to reserve the appropriate dimensions and create the door opening with gypsum board. Before painting, the track should be pre-embedded in advance. This ensures the firmness of the track installation and the overall aesthetic appeal of the decoration, avoiding damage to the wall during later installation.
  • Bathroom Sliding Door Installation: First, use a level to find the vertical point accurately, which is the foundation for ensuring the vertical installation and smooth opening and closing of the sliding door. Then, apply structural adhesive for initial fixation, securely attaching the frame to the wall. Next, install the overhead and floor tracks, adjust the rollers to ensure smooth and unobstructed operation, which is crucial for the normal use and extended lifespan of the sliding door. Finally, install the door, attach dampers, tighten the door lock, and apply glass adhesive for sealing, ensuring a perfect integration of the sliding door with the surrounding environment.

Characteristics of Overhead-Track Doors

Overhead-track doors, also known as overhead-sliding doors or sliding doors, use upper hanging wheels for support and lower track wheels for positioning to achieve sliding motion, featuring both upper and lower tracks. This structural characteristic makes them suitable for places like kitchens and bathrooms, meeting the requirements for sliding flexibility and stability of doors in these spaces.
