Jingdezhen Container-Style Houses

Admin September 17, 2026

Container-style houses in Jingdezhen mainly include two types: container houses and packing-box units.

Container Houses: Essentially an industrial modular building system, they are based on steel containers that meet international freight standards as constituent units. Through structural design and modification, they fulfill residential functional requirements. Their emergence stems from engineering factors such as material cost control, rapid construction cycles, and site adaptability. Industrial production allows major components to be prefabricated in factories, reducing on-site wet work and construction periods, and addressing site constraints or short-term usage needs. Standard container dimensions are approximately 6 meters in length, 2.4 meters in width, and 2.6 meters in height. Multiple containers can be horizontally joined, vertically stacked, or staggered to form various spatial configurations, subject to constraints from connection node strength, transportation and lifting conditions, and structural codes. The steel container structure is intact, offering certain earthquake and wind resistance, but modifications involving cutting openings require reinforcement design to prevent structural failure due to stress concentration. In Jingdezhen, ceramic production and exhibition venues have a demand for flexible, low-cost temporary or semi-professional spaces, such as creative workshops, small exhibition halls, or residences for on-site artists. The mobility and rapid deployment capabilities of container houses align well with these needs.

Packing-Box Units: Drawing on the standardization and modularization concepts of maritime containers, they use steel structural containers as basic units, which are professionally prefabricated in factories, completing most processes including structure, insulation, water and electricity pipelines, and interior decoration, before being transported to the site for rapid assembly. Their core advantages are evident: extremely fast construction speed and a convenient process, with core components produced to factory standards and minimal on-site work, significantly shortening the time from planning to operational use; material recycling aligns with environmental protection concepts, with high recovery rates for steel structural main materials, reduced material waste from factory prefabrication, and the ability to integrate green facilities to lower energy consumption; flexible spatial combinations and strong adaptability, with standardized container modules capable of various horizontal and vertical combinations to meet functional changes or site relocation needs; structurally safe and stable, with good durability, high-strength steel containers undergoing anti-corrosion and fire-resistant treatments, with sealing technology ensuring performance at joints, providing a safe and comfortable indoor environment.

In addition, Jingdezhen also offers services such as the sale of second-hand containers and the rental of used containers, involving various types such as refrigerated containers, 6-meter containers, and 12-meter containers, as well as the rental and sale of on-site housing like residential container houses.
