Huanggang Prefabricated Panel Houses
The following is information about prefabricated panel houses in Huanggang:

Export Situation
Prefabricated houses produced in Huanggang, Hubei, are actively performing in the international market, being shipped in bulk to European countries such as Spain and Italy. The product range is diverse, including high-end customized houses costing over a million US dollars to meet customers with high requirements for quality and design, as well as affordable houses priced at tens of thousands of US dollars for budget-conscious consumers. In the first quarter of 2026, China's export volume of prefabricated houses surged by 45% year-on-year. After being elaborately decorated in Europe, the terminal selling price of prefabricated houses from Huanggang, Hubei, can exceed 1 million US dollars, while the factory price of a basic domestic model is only 200,000 RMB, approximately 28,000 US dollars. The significant price difference reflects the different demands and positioning of the domestic and international markets for prefabricated houses.
House Characteristics
Prefabricated houses, commonly known as "mobile houses", differ from traditionally constructed houses on-site. They divide the house into independent modules and complete the integrated prefabrication of architecture, structure, electromechanical systems, and decoration in the factory. Over 90% of the processes are completed in the factory, with walls, plumbing, kitchen and bathroom facilities, and decoration all in place at once. This production method allows small-sized houses to be assembled in just a few hours and multi-story buildings to be capped in just over ten days, with delivery time being only one-third of that of traditional construction, greatly shortening the construction cycle, improving efficiency, and also reducing noise, dust, and other pollution caused by on-site construction.
Issues with Local Prefabricated Panel Structure Houses
In early August 2024, a 24-unit residential building with a prefabricated panel structure, built in 1992 and located at No. 9 Xianglong Road, Wuxue City, showed safety hazards. Some residents knocked down load-bearing walls during renovation, and after the completion of the adjacent Jiamei Building, part of its structure had already cracked. To ensure residential safety, residents, in conjunction with the community, have repeatedly communicated with the household involved about conducting a house safety appraisal, but to no avail. This incident reflects that some old prefabricated panel structure houses may have structural safety issues due to long-term use and changes in the surrounding environment. At the same time, residents' awareness of house safety needs to be improved, and relevant departments also need to strengthen supervision and guidance in house safety management.
