How to Use Camping Portable Toilet

Admin September 27, 2026

The usage methods of camping portable toilets vary depending on their types. Here are the usage instructions for common types:

Portable Toilet: Before use, secure the toilet properly. Ensure that the buckles of components such as the seat and support frame are firmly connected to prevent wobbling during use. If the toilet is equipped with a water tank, fill it with an appropriate amount of clean water in advance for flushing. For some models where the water tank is separate from the toilet, manually press the flush button during use. After use, press the buckle to remove the waste bucket, and pour the waste into a black water tank (if available at the campsite) or a designated disposal point (such as a public toilet or garbage disposal station). When cleaning the waste bucket, you can rinse it with clean water or use a specialized cleaner, then dry it and reinstall it. If the portable toilet comes with a privacy tent, first unfold and secure the tent, open the toilet lid, lower the curtain, and zip it up to ensure privacy during use.

Simple Folding Toilet: To use, first unfold the lightweight metal or plastic frame to form a stable toilet seat structure. Place a collection bag under the toilet seat. You can choose a disposable emergency bag or a thickened garbage bag, and cover the bottom of the frame with a black garbage bag to isolate the waste from the frame and maintain hygiene. If you need to absorb urine and eliminate odors, pour an appropriate amount of cat litter into the bag. After using the toilet, wipe your private parts with wet toilet paper, tie up the used garbage bag tightly, and put on a new bag for future use. Place the used garbage bag inside an outer garbage bag to avoid direct contact. Finally, seal the outer garbage bag and dispose of it at a designated garbage collection point as required by the campsite.

Disposable Emergency Bag: These bags are pre-filled with coagulants or degradants and can be used directly. Unfold the bag and fix it on a simple stand or place it directly on a flat surface. After defecating or urinating into the bag, the chemicals inside will quickly solidify the liquid and control odor diffusion. After use, immediately seal the bag to ensure no leakage, and then dispose of it as ordinary garbage at the designated garbage collection point of the campsite. Note that these bags are disposable and should not be reused. Also, avoid mixing them with food, drinking water, etc. to prevent cross-contamination.
