How to Partition Container Houses

Admin September 17, 2026

Partitioning container houses can be achieved through two methods: fixed lightweight partition walls or flexible partitions. The specific methods are as follows:

I. Construction of Fixed Lightweight Partition Walls

1. Construction Preparation

  • Material Selection:
    • Main Materials: Use 120mm thick autoclaved aerated concrete panels (ALC panels), which must meet a dry density of ≤625kg/m³ and a compressive strength of ≥3.5MPa, and undergo moisture-proof treatment before leaving the factory; the framework uses hot-dip galvanized light steel keels (C50×30×0.6mm) with a zinc layer thickness of ≥80μm, paired with M5×16 self-tapping screws; the filling material is 50mm thick centrifugal glass wool panels (density 48kg/m³, thermal conductivity ≤0.038W/(m·K)); the facing uses 12mm thick A2-grade fire-resistant gypsum boards.
    • Auxiliary Materials: Neutral silicone weather-resistant sealant (displacement capacity ±25%), cement-based capillary crystalline interface agent (bonding strength ≥1.5MPa), and special ALC panel repair mortar (initial setting time ≥45min, final setting time ≤12h).
  • Tool Preparation: Equip with electric drills (4 units), handheld circular saws (2 units), laser line projectors (2 units), 2m aluminum alloy straightedges (6 units), and 0.02-1.00mm feeler gauges (4 units), ensuring equipment accuracy meets requirements.
  • Working Conditions: The main structure of the container has passed inspection, with a surface flatness error of ≤3mm/2m; the construction environment temperature is ≥5℃, humidity ≤85%, with good ventilation; the ground leveling error is ≤5mm/2m, and the water and electricity pipelines have been pre-embedded and their routes marked.

2. Construction Process

  • Measurement and Line Setting: Use a laser line projector to snap the centerline of the partition (deviation ±2mm), and measure the width along the centerline to snap the keel installation lines; snap the baseboard reference lines 50mm on both sides of the ground control lines, with all control lines snapped as double lines (line width ≤2mm).
  • Keel Installation:
    • Top and Bottom Keels: Fix with M8×35 expansion bolts, spaced ≤600mm, with ends ≤100mm; drill holes to a depth of ≥50mm, with bolt threads exposed by 2-3 threads; connect joints with 200mm lap pieces, with ≥2 bolts per joint.
    • Vertical Keels: Arrange at 400mm intervals (deviation ≤10mm), with a verticality error of ≤2mm/m; add C75×50×0.8mm reinforcing keels on both sides of door frames, connected to top and bottom keels with 3.5×10mm self-tapping screws (≥2 screws per joint).
  • Partition Panel Installation:
    • ALC Panels: Panel joint width is 5-8mm, apply 1-2mm thick interface agent before installation; adjust verticality with a special crowbar (error ≤3mm/2m), and fix panels to keels with M4.2×25 countersunk self-tapping screws (≥6 points per panel, ≥150mm from ends).
    • Panel Joint Treatment: Clean impurities from joints, then fill with PE rods (diameter 2mm larger than joint width) to a depth of 2/3 of the joint width.

II. Flexible Partition Methods

To maintain spatial transparency, non-solid partitions such as glass sliding doors, curtains, movable screens, or half-height bookshelves can be used. These methods do not require complex construction; simply select materials based on functional needs and fix them to the container's steel structure or ground, effectively dividing areas while ensuring light flow and visual extension.
