How to Make a Mobile Prefab Toilet

Admin September 27, 2026

Mobile prefab toilets can be made using two methods: modifying a water storage tank or a large plastic bucket. The choice should be based on material availability, with attention to sealing and stability.

Method 1: Combining a Water Storage Tank with a Pallet

  1. Base Frame Construction
Select a plastic pallet as the bottom support and fix universal wheels at the four corners to ensure mobility. The pallet should be made of a material with strong load-bearing capacity to prevent deformation due to uneven weight distribution.

  2. Modification and Assembly of the Water Storage Tank
Use two water storage tanks with open tops. Cut the tops to create open containers for easy internal installation. Stack the containers vertically and secure the connection points with self-tapping screws to ensure structural stability. Cut a rectangular opening measuring 180 cm in height and 50 cm in width on the side of the container to serve as an entrance and exit for personnel.

  3. Drainage System Installation
Drill holes in the floor inside the container and install elbows and pipes. Seal the gaps and connect them to the toilet drain to prevent sewage leakage. Cut and install a faucet and sink on the side of the container, connecting them to a drain pipe below. Ensure the pipe has a proper slope to prevent water accumulation.

  4. Fixing Functional Components
Secure the toilet, toilet seat, shower bracket, and showerhead. Seal the connection points with waterproof glue. Make a door using wooden boards and hinges, and install a door handle to ensure smooth opening and closing with good sealing.

Method 2: Modifying a Large Plastic Bucket

  1. Cutting and Reinforcement
Cut the large plastic bucket horizontally at the one-third mark. Fix wooden strips at the bottom and install universal wheels to enhance load-bearing capacity. Cut the bucket body to create an entrance and wrap the edges with wooden boards to form a door frame, preventing sharp edges from causing injuries.

  2. Extension Structure Construction
Install aluminum composite panels at the extended position of the bucket body to increase height. Paint the wooden boards white for a unified appearance and improved aesthetics. Process a wooden door and install it on the door frame using hinges. Ensure the gap between the door and the door frame is less than 5 mm to prevent odor diffusion.

  3. Drainage and Water Storage System
Drill holes at the bottom of the bucket and connect a drain pipe. Install a water storage bucket on the side and equip it with pipe fittings. Seal the threaded parts with Teflon tape. Make a shower using PVC pipes, install valve switches and tees, and connect them to the showerhead and toilet water inlet respectively to ensure flexible water flow control.

  4. Toilet Installation and Connection to the Septic Tank
Install the toilet at the center of the bucket bottom and connect a PVC pipe to the septic tank below. The pipe should be buried underground and equipped with an inspection port for easy maintenance.

Additional Notes

Mobile toilets can be classified into single-unit or composite structures in terms of structure, and lifting, portable, or powered towing types in terms of mobility, depending on the usage scenario. For sewage treatment, options include water flush, non-water flush suction, or circulating water flush types based on needs. The circulating water flush type requires a filtration device to reduce water consumption.
