How to Install Prefabricated House Stairs

Admin September 18, 2026

The installation process for prefabricated house stairs mainly includes five steps: setting out and leveling, preparation before hoisting, hoisting and positioning, adjustment and fixation, and finished product protection.

  1. Setting Out and Leveling
Before installation, release the positioning lines for the prefabricated stair segments according to the positioning axes to ensure accurate installation positions. Use M20 cement mortar for leveling at the cast-in-place corbel positions, or lay 20-millimeter-thick C20 fine aggregate concrete mortar for leveling at the stair beams at the upper and lower ends of the stair segments. The purpose of this step is to provide a flat installation base for the stairs, preventing installation deviations or uneven structural loading due to an uneven base.

  2. Preparation Before Hoisting
Use professional lifting equipment for the hoisting operation of the stair segments. Before hoisting, carefully check the component numbers to ensure they match the installation positions; also, inspect the component exteriors for any damage or cracks to avoid using unqualified components. Additionally, adjust the hoisting posture of the stairs to keep them horizontal or at the designed inclination angle, preventing flipping or collisions during the hoisting process.

  3. Hoisting and Positioning
During the hoisting process, slowly lift the stair components and designate a safety area where unauthorized personnel are prohibited from entering. When the component is hoisted to about 1 meter above the installation position, pause the descent. The operator should stabilize the prefabricated stairs and guide them to slowly descend onto the stair beams by referring to the pre-released control lines. This step requires the cooperation of multiple people to ensure accurate positioning of the stairs and prevent damage to the components or structure due to collisions.

  4. Adjustment and Fixation
After the stairs are basically in position, use crowbars and other tools for fine adjustments to ensure that their positions, elevations, and verticality meet the design requirements. After calibration, remove the lifting hooks and then proceed with the grouting and fixation operations. The grouting materials should be mixed according to the design requirements to ensure dense filling, enhancing the connection strength between the stairs and the main structure and ensuring overall stability.

  5. Finished Product Protection
After installation, protect the prefabricated stairs as finished products, such as by covering them with protective films and setting up warning signs, to prevent scratches, contamination, or damage caused by subsequent construction or personnel activities. The protective measures should continue until the overall project acceptance is completed to ensure that the appearance and functionality of the stairs are not affected.
