How to Install Floor Adhesive for Mobile Toilets
Admin October 11, 2026
The installation of floor adhesive for mobile toilets should be carried out in accordance with their temporary and portable characteristics, following the steps below:

I. Substrate Pre-treatment
- Clean the Floor: Thoroughly remove oil stains, floating dust, and loose debris to ensure the substrate is free of impurities. If there are any hollow areas or cracks on the floor, repair them first. If the flatness error is large (e.g., exceeding 2mm/2m), use leveling mortar to level the floor to prevent the floor stickers from curling or cracking due to an uneven substrate.
- Waterproofing Inspection: If the original waterproof layer of the mobile toilet has been damaged (e.g., during handling), redo the waterproof layer and conduct a closed-water test (accumulate water for 24 hours without leakage) to prevent water penetration, which could cause the adhesive to fail or the floor to become moldy.
II. Adhesive Selection and Preparation
- Select Adhesive According to the Scenario:
- Biological Adhesive: Suitable for scenarios where waste decomposition and odor elimination are required, with relatively strong environmental protection properties.
- Chemical Adhesive: If a sterilization function is needed (e.g., in public mobile toilets), chemical adhesives containing sterilizing ingredients can be selected.
- Tile Adhesive: If the floor is tiled or high-strength bonding is required, add water according to the water-to-adhesive ratio indicated on the package and stir until a uniform paste is formed. Let it stand for 5-10 minutes, stir again, and use it up within the specified time (usually within 2 hours) to prevent the adhesive from curing and becoming ineffective.
- Environmental Protection and Storage: Prioritize low-VOC (volatile organic compound) environmentally friendly adhesives to reduce the impact on the environment. Store them away from direct sunlight and high-temperature environments (e.g., inside a car in summer) to prevent the adhesive from deteriorating.
III. Installation Operation
- Design Reference Lines: Use a chalk line to draw cross reference lines on the floor to determine the installation direction (e.g., install from the entrance inward) to ensure that the floor stickers are aligned and the overall appearance is good.
- Apply Adhesive and Install:
- Self-adhesive Floor Stickers: After cleaning the surface, measure the length, tear off about 10cm of the backing paper, align it with the reference line and stick it on. While tearing off the backing paper, use a scraper or a hard card to smooth it out and expel air. After sticking, use a utility knife to cut off the excess parts.
- Tile Adhesive Installation: Use a scraper with the corresponding tooth pitch (6mm tooth pitch for small tiles and 10mm or above for large tiles) to evenly apply the adhesive paste. Control the thickness of the adhesive layer at 3-5mm to ensure there is no missed application or accumulation.
- Compact and Expel Air: After installing each floor sticker or tile, immediately compact it with your hands or feet, paying special attention to checking the edges. When installing tiles, use a rubber mallet to lightly tap and adjust the flatness to avoid hollow areas.
IV. Finishing and Maintenance
- Clean Adhesive Residues: After installation, use a damp cloth to wipe off the adhesive residues on the surface to prevent them from becoming difficult to remove after curing.
- Curing and Grouting: If tile adhesive is used, do not step on it within 24 hours. After the adhesive paste has initially cured, perform grouting (the grout should be compatible with the adhesive). Avoid contact with a large amount of standing water within 2-3 days after grouting to prevent the grout from falling off.
- Confirm Strength Before Handling: If the mobile toilet needs to be moved frequently, wait for the adhesive to fully cure (usually 3-7 days for tile adhesive) before handling to prevent the floor from falling off. Avoid severe vibrations or dragging during handling.
Precautions: The particularity of mobile toilets requires that the adhesive should take into account bonding strength, environmental protection, and weather resistance. Follow the steps strictly during operation to ensure long-term use effects.
