How to Install a Door Frame in a Container House

Admin September 16, 2026

Installing a door frame in a container house requires assembling the door frame, fixing it to the opening, and properly handling the gaps and installing and adjusting the door closer.

Door Frame Assembly

  • Drilling and Connection: Use an electric drill with a diameter of about 2.5mm to drill holes at the top of the door frame on the ground, with a depth of 30 - 40mm. Connect the horizontal frame with the two vertical frames using four 80mm-long nails. Ensure that the gap between the inner vertical frame and the horizontal frame is less than 0.5mm, and the horizontal frame forms a 90-degree angle with the vertical frame.
  • Installing Connecting Plates: Fix six connecting plates on both sides of the door frame. Turn the assembled door frame over and fix another six connecting plates. After fixing, check for verticality and levelness. Once it meets the requirements, install the door frame and the door leaf, ensuring that the gaps on both sides meet the requirements.

Fixing the Door Frame to the Opening

  • Placing and Adjusting in the Opening: Place the firmly assembled door frame as a whole into the door opening, ensuring that both sides of the door frame are on the same plane as the two sides of the wall. Adjust with a leveling ruler and check the verticality with a plumb bob line. Ensure it is perpendicular to the ground before preparing for fixation.
  • Drilling and Fixing: Use the nail holes of the connecting plates as points to determine 12 drilling points on the wall. Drill holes with an 8 - 10mm electric hammer, embed wood shavings, and then fix the connecting plates to the wall with nails. When fixing, insert wooden strips into the gaps between the door frame and the wall to ensure that the door frame is not loose and is firmly connected.

Gap Treatment

According to the 'Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Building Decoration' (GB 50210) and general industry construction specifications, the gap between the door frame and the wall should be less than 5 millimeters. If the gap exceeds the standard, it not only affects the aesthetics but also easily accumulates dust and allows air to pass through. Measures need to be taken, such as using appropriate filling materials for filling.

Door Closer Installation and Adjustment

  • Determining the Position and Marking: Determine the installation position of the door closer and mark it with a marker. Draw a straight line at the right end of the door closer. Depending on the size of the door, you can also draw a straight line and mark corresponding points at a distance of -10 - 30 millimeters from the right end of the door closer.
  • Installation and Adjustment: Screw in the screws of the door closer, put the connecting rod over the spindle of the door closer, and tighten the screws. Loosen the nut of the adjustable swing arm, adjust the support of the adjustable swing arm to the straight-line position, and then tighten the nut. Install the fastening screws and the dust cover. You can also control the closing speed and the locking speed by adjusting the closing speed control valve and the locking speed control valve. However, be careful not to loosen the speed control screws too much to avoid oil leakage from the door closer.
