How to Install an Air Conditioner in a Container House

Admin September 16, 2026

Installing an air conditioner in a container house requires reasonable planning and operation based on the type of air conditioner and the characteristics of the container. Details are as follows:

1. Selection of Air Conditioner Type

There are three main types of container air conditioners, and the choice should be made according to the actual usage situation:

  • Container Hoisting Air Conditioner: Suitable for containers with mobile loading and unloading operations, facilitating the installation and removal of the air conditioner during the movement of the container.
  • Vehicle-mounted Container Air Conditioner: Appropriate for containers used in long-distance transportation, providing a suitable temperature environment inside the container during transportation.
  • Container Wall-mounted Air Conditioner: Suitable for containers in fixed locations, with an installation method similar to that of ordinary wall-mounted air conditioners, not occupying floor space.

2. Planning of Installation Location

  • Internal Space Consideration: Fully consider the size of the interior of the container to ensure that the installation of the air conditioner does not affect the storage of goods and the activities of personnel inside the container. At the same time, reasonably determine the number and orientation of air outlets according to the distribution of goods and the activity areas of personnel inside the container, so that the cold (warm) air can be evenly blown to all corners of the room.
  • External Condition Limitations: If an air conditioner type with an outdoor unit is selected, the outdoor unit should be installed in a sturdy place on the building, such as on a balcony, a specially made steel frame under a window, or a concrete pedestal. When placed outdoors, a sunshade and rain cover should be provided to avoid strong winds blowing directly at the exhaust outlet of the unit. The exhaust outlet of the unit should be placed at a 90-degree angle to the wind direction. At the same time, ensure that the outdoor unit has sufficient space for maintenance, installation, and operation, and keep it away from other buildings to prevent obstruction of air convection and affect heat dissipation.

3. Key Points of Installation Operation

  • Fixing the Unit: Fix both the indoor and outdoor units properly. The indoor unit can be fixed to the concrete floor with anchor bolts, or a wooden base with a thickness of 60 - 100mm can be made under the unit to fix the unit on the base.
  • Connecting Pipes: Connect the refrigerant pipes and drain pipes. Split-type air conditioners have pipe outlet holes at the bottom back or on the left and right sides of the unit, which can be selected according to needs. Pipe joints can be connected by quick connectors or flared nut connectors, and operations should be carried out according to the corresponding methods.
  • Safe Wiring: Pay attention to the safe wiring of the electrical wires, strictly follow the circuit diagram for wiring, avoid wrong connections, and conduct a power-on test after connection to ensure that the air conditioner can operate normally.
