How to Fold an Outdoor Portable Toilet

Admin October 08, 2026

The folding method for an outdoor portable toilet mainly consists of the following steps, and adjustments should be made according to the specific model during operation:

1. Clean the Trash Bag and Seat Ring

First, remove the trash bag from the C-shaped seat ring and ensure that the internal waste has been properly disposed of (e.g., sealed and discarded in a designated trash bin). If the trash bag is disposable, simply discard it. If it is reusable, clean the inside with a disinfectant and let it dry. Then, check the surface of the seat ring for any stains and wipe it with a wet wipe or disinfectant spray if necessary to avoid leaving odors or bacteria after folding.

2. Disassemble the Support Structure

The support structure of an outdoor portable toilet usually consists of four detachable rods (e.g., made of aluminum alloy or plastic) that are inserted into the four fixing holes at the bottom of the seat ring. When operating, hold the top of the rods with both hands, gently lift and rotate them to detach them from the fixing holes. If there are buckles at the connection between the rods and the seat ring, press the buckles first before disassembly. After disassembly, place the rods parallel to avoid deformation caused by bending or heavy pressure.

3. Fold the C-shaped Seat Ring

The C-shaped seat ring is the core component for folding, and its design usually allows for compression or folding. If the seat ring has a segmented structure (e.g., two hinged sections), it can be directly folded to the minimum volume. If it is a one-piece design, look for the compression button or groove on the side of the seat ring, press it, and then press down on the seat ring to make it contract. When folding, keep the force even to avoid cracking the plastic due to excessive force. The folded seat ring should be flat and no more than 5 centimeters thick.

4. Store the Covering (e.g., Nylon Cloth or Tent)

If the outdoor toilet is equipped with a covering cloth or tent, first completely remove it from the support structure. Unfold the covering and check for any damage or stains. If there is any, repair or clean it and let it dry. Then, fold it according to the original creases or the instructions in the manual: usually, fold the cloth into a long strip, roll it from one end to the other, and finally secure it with the matching straps. The volume of the folded covering should be similar to that of the seat ring for easy overall storage.

5. Overall Organization and Storage

Gather all the components (seat ring, support rods, covering) and wrap the seat ring and support rods with a clean cloth or plastic bag to prevent dust or moisture from entering. If the product comes with a dedicated storage bag, put the components in order and ensure that the zipper or buckles are closed tightly. When storing, choose a dry and well-ventilated environment and avoid direct sunlight to prevent plastic aging.

Precautions: The folding methods of outdoor portable toilets may vary among different brands and models. Be sure to read the product manual or watch the official instructional video before operating. If you encounter abnormal situations such as buckles that cannot be opened or a seat ring that cannot be compressed, do not force the operation. Instead, contact the seller or after-sales personnel for assistance.
