How to Fold a Portable Toilet
Admin September 24, 2026
The folding method for portable toilets depends on the specific type. Below are the folding steps and precautions for common outdoor simple toilets and toilets with coverings:

I. Folding Method for Outdoor Simple Toilets
These toilets typically consist of a C-shaped seat ring, support structure (such as wooden sticks or metal brackets), garbage bags, and nylon cloth/tent. The folding steps should be carried out in order:
- Clean the Garbage Bag
First, remove the garbage bag fixed under the seat ring. Seal the internal waste and discarded items to prevent environmental pollution. If using biodegradable garbage bags, dispose of them according to local environmental protection requirements. If it is a reusable container, thoroughly clean and disinfect it. - Disassemble the Support Structure
Remove the wooden sticks or brackets from the four fixed points (usually buckles or slots) of the C-shaped seat ring. If the support structure is telescopic, first compress it to the shortest state and then completely pull it out. - Fold the Seat Ring
The C-shaped seat ring is mostly made of plastic or lightweight metal materials. Its volume can be reduced by squeezing it in both directions or rotating the buckles. Some seat rings are designed with folding joints and can be folded by simply pressing them. If there are no joints, fold and fix them manually. - Handle the Covering
If equipped with nylon cloth or a tent, first remove the fixed ropes or ground stakes, and then gradually fold it according to the original creases (usually horizontal or vertical). Keep the fabric flat during folding to avoid wrinkles that may make storage difficult.
II. Precautions for Folding Outdoor Toilets with Coverings
These toilets have a more complex structure and may include waterproof cloth, bracket systems, etc. Extra attention should be paid when folding them:
- Thoroughly Clean and Disinfect
Before folding, wipe all components with a chlorine-containing disinfectant or alcohol, especially the surfaces of the seat ring, support rods, and covering cloth that come into contact with the human body, to prevent bacterial residue. If the toilet is equipped with a water tank or sewage pipe, empty the liquid and rinse the inside. - Refer to the Product Manual
The folding methods of different brands and models may vary significantly (such as rotary, pull-out, or buckle types). Forcing the operation may damage the components. If the manual is lost, contact the seller to obtain an electronic version of the instructions or watch the official disassembly video. - Store in a Dry and Ventilated Place
After folding, place the components in a dry environment to prevent metal rusting or fabric mildew caused by moisture. For long-term storage, it is recommended to wrap the seat ring and support structure with a dust-proof bag, and fold the covering cloth separately and place it near desiccants. - Check the Condition Before Use
Before reassembling, check whether the seat ring is cracked, whether the support rods are deformed, and whether the covering cloth is damaged. If component aging is found (such as plastic embrittlement or metal rusting), replace them in a timely manner to ensure safety during use.
