How to Decorate Prefabricated Concrete Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The decoration of prefabricated concrete houses can start from aspects such as walls, floors, doors and windows, and kitchens and bathrooms. Here are the specific decoration methods:

Wall Decoration

  • Base Treatment: If the wall surface is uneven, base treatment is required first. For minor unevenness, white latex paint can be directly applied; if the unevenness is severe, cement or other decorative materials should be used to re-level the wall to ensure its flatness and lay a good foundation for subsequent decoration processes.
  • Base Film Application and Wallpaper Selection: After base treatment, apply a layer of base film. The base film makes it easier to replace wallpapers in the future and also protects the wall surface. The type and color of the wallpaper should be selected according to the overall decoration style. It is recommended to choose bright-colored wallpapers, which are not only dirt-resistant but also add color to the indoor environment and enhance the spatial atmosphere.

Floor Decoration

  • Prefabricated Panel Reinforcement: If floor tiles are to be laid in a prefabricated panel house, the original prefabricated panels must be reinforced. There are two reinforcement methods: one is traditional reinforced concrete reinforcement, where two small beams are added under the prefabricated panels to form a cross shape with the panels, and then holes are drilled in the panels for grouting; the other is steel beam reinforcement, where the positions for the steel beams are measured accurately on both walls, and the steel beams are supported with supports so that their surfaces are fully in contact with the bottom of the prefabricated panels.
  • Floor Leveling and Material Selection: The floor needs to be leveled, after which floor tiles or wooden floors can be laid. Floor tiles can be chosen with patterns or warm colors, or made into special feature tiles to increase the aesthetic appeal of the floor; wooden floors are a more cost-effective material, and homeowners can complete the laying themselves, suitable for simple or Chinese styles. However, it should be noted that the indoor environment should not be damp. If a wooden board effect is preferred, imitation wooden boards can be chosen, and a waterproof layer should be applied to protect the floor.

Door and Window Decoration

  • Material Selection: Doors and windows can be selected according to the overall style and homeowner preferences, mainly including aluminum alloy, solid wood, and broken bridge aluminum materials. Solid wood doors can give a warm and natural feeling; broken bridge aluminum windows are recommended for their long service life and stable performance. Generally, paint-free doors are sufficient, and if the original windows are of good quality and match the style, using the original windows is also feasible.
  • Gap Treatment: If there are gaps when installing windows in a concrete house, they can be filled with cement slurry or expanding foam. Expanding foam can fit tightly with the windows, effectively preventing cracks or water seepage and ensuring the airtightness and waterproofness of the windows.

Kitchen and Bathroom Decoration

The kitchen requires the installation of water pipes and electrical wires. It is recommended to hire professionals to ensure water and electrical safety. After leveling the floor, lay durable and dirt-resistant floor tiles and perform waterproofing. After the waterproofing is done, lay floor tiles or wooden floors, keeping the overall color and style consistent. Finally, install kitchen cabinets and appliances such as cabinets and range hoods. The sizes can be selected according to family members' heights and positions can be reserved. Alternatively, a designer can be hired to design the kitchen layout to improve its usability.
