How to Connect Wires in a Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

Connecting wires in a container house requires adherence to professional standards to ensure safety and functionality. Here are the specific steps and key points:

I. Circuit Planning and Design

  1. Load Calculation
Calculate the total load based on the power of electrical appliances (such as lighting, air conditioners, sockets, etc.). Select wires with an appropriate cross-sectional area (e.g., 4mm², 6mm², etc.) and an air switch capacity to avoid overloading.
  2. Circuit Division
Divide the circuit into independent circuits for lighting, sockets, high-power appliances (such as air conditioners), etc. Each circuit should be equipped with a separate leakage protection switch to enhance safety.
  3. Wiring Method
Plan the wire routing according to the principles of 'horizontal and vertical' or 'two-point straight line' to reduce crossings and facilitate future maintenance. The depth of wall slots should meet the requirements of the wire tube diameter (e.g., the slot depth for PVC tubes should be ≥ 1.5 times the tube diameter).

II. Material Selection and Installation

  1. Wires and Wire Tubes
    • Use flame-retardant cross-linked polyethylene insulated cables with a long-term operating temperature ≥ 105°C and a rated voltage higher than the actual voltage level.
    • Select PVC tubes or galvanized steel tubes for wire tubes. Strong and weak currents should be laid in separate tubes with a spacing of ≥ 30cm to reduce interference.
  2. Distribution Box Configuration
    • Install a main air switch and branch leakage protectors. The incoming wires should be connected with 'left neutral and right live' wires, with the neutral wire connected to the neutral bar and the ground wire connected to the ground bar.
    • The distribution box should be fixed in a dry and ventilated location, with the bottom ≥ 1.5m from the ground for easy operation.
  3. Wire Tube Laying
    • After cutting slots in the wall, fix the wire tubes. Use a tube bender at corners to avoid damaging the wires with right-angle bends.
    • For floor wiring, no slots are needed (tiles can cover it). For ceiling wiring, it should be combined with the ceiling design.

III. Wiring Methods and Techniques

  1. Reliable Wiring Techniques
    • Twisting and Tinning Method: Wrap the wire joints 5-7 times and then tin them. Wrap with insulating tape to prevent loosening and oxidation.
    • Wire Connector Wiring: After stripping the copper cores, insert them into wire connectors and press them tightly with a wire crimping plier. This is suitable for connecting multiple strands of wires.
    • Terminal Blocks: Use twist-type terminal blocks to fix the copper cores to avoid loose connections. This is suitable for high-power equipment.
  2. Ground Wire Connection
    • Connect the ground wire of the socket bottom box to the grounding hole on the back. Reserve a ground wire in the lamp bottom box and connect it to the metal shell (if the lamp is made of metal).
    • The container body should be connected to the grounding bar with equipotential bonding. The grounding resistance should be ≤ 4Ω. The lightning protection system should be connected to the grounding bar through flat steel or round steel.

IV. Safety and Acceptance

  1. Insulation and Protection
    • Lay flame-retardant insulating mats (with a withstand voltage ≥ 5kV) in the aisles. Fill and trim the gaps between equipment cabinets neatly.
    • All grounding posts should be painted and rust removed to ensure good contact with the ground wire.
  2. Lightning Protection Requirements
    • Install a lightning protection system on the roof and connect it to the grounding bar through grounding flat steel, in compliance with the 'Code for Design of Lightning Protection of Buildings' (GB 50057).
  3. Acceptance Testing
    • Use a megohmmeter to test the insulation resistance of the circuit (≥ 0.5MΩ). Test the functionality of each circuit by powering it on to ensure there are no short circuits or leakage phenomena.

Precautions: The circuit modification of a container house should be carried out by a professional electrician. Unauthorized wiring is strictly prohibited. In damp areas (such as bathrooms), waterproof socket boxes should be installed to ensure electrical safety.
