How to Connect Mobile Toilets

Admin September 23, 2026

The connection methods for mobile toilets mainly fall into two categories: septic tank connection and quick-connect systems. Here are the specific operational steps and key points:

I. Septic Tank Connection Installation Steps

  1. Preliminary Preparation and Positioning
Select a location with higher elevation, smooth drainage, and approximately 1.5 meters away from the main building to avoid water accumulation or backflow. Use tools such as shovels and tape measures to excavate a pit about 1.2 meters deep. Lay a 10-centimeter-thick layer of gravel at the bottom and compact it. Use a level to calibrate the height difference between the inlet and outlet of the septic tank and the ground pipes to ensure a reasonable drainage slope.

  2. Pipe Connection and Sealing
Align the PVC pipes with the inlet and outlet of the septic tank. Wrap the joints with sealing rings and then apply special glue to secure them, preventing sewage leakage. Install an anti-backflow valve in the pipes to prevent odors from flowing back into the toilet through the pipes. The pipe layout should be fixed with concrete or bricks to prevent displacement or breakage due to external forces.

  3. Backfilling and Commissioning
Backfill gravel and loess in layers to the ground level, with each layer not exceeding 20 centimeters in thickness and compacted. Open the inlet valve to test the drainage speed. Before the first use, empty the impurities (such as gravel and dust) in the septic tank to avoid pipe blockage. In winter, wrap insulation cotton around the pipes to prevent freezing and cracking due to low temperatures.

II. Quick-Connect and Fixing Systems

  1. Quick-Connect Sewage Discharge/Water Supply System
Standardized quick-connect fittings (such as clamp-type or quick-plug types) are used for rapid connection to municipal sewage networks or septic tanks. The bottom of self-contained toilets is equipped with a trolley-type sewage outlet for the collection tank. When moving, there is no need to disassemble the pipes; simply push the collection tank to the designated sewage discharge point for emptying, which is suitable for temporary events or scenarios without fixed sewage discharge facilities.

  2. Ground Anchors and Leveling Fixing
Use adjustable chassis feet (with a adjustment range of 50-100mm) for horizontal calibration to ensure the toilet is placed steadily. For temporary outdoor use, expansion bolts (fixed to concrete floors) or screw piles (300-600mm long, inserted into the soil) can be used to enhance stability and prevent tipping due to uneven ground or wind.

Precautions:

  • After connection, conduct a water test, focusing on checking for leakage at pipe joints and valves.
  • Before moving the toilet, clear obstacles along the path and ensure the ground bearing capacity is not less than 5 tons per square meter to avoid chassis deformation.
  • Regularly check the pipe sealing, especially at the quick-connect fittings, and replace any aging or damaged parts promptly.
