How to Close a Portable Toilet

Admin September 21, 2026

The method for closing a portable toilet depends on the specific type of facility and its functions. Here are some common closing methods:

I. Closing the Drain Valve

The drain valve of a portable toilet is usually located at the bottom of the water tank or the toilet bowl, used to control the flushing water flow. To close it, turn the handle or knob counterclockwise (some models may require clockwise rotation) until it is fully tightened. If using tools (such as a wrench), avoid applying excessive force that could damage the components. If leakage still occurs after closing, check whether the sealing rubber ring is aged or if there is foreign matter blocking it:

  • Aged sealing rubber ring: Remove the drain valve and replace it with a rubber ring of the same specification;
  • Foreign matter blockage: Rinse the inside of the drain valve with clean water to remove sand particles or scale.

II. Turning Off Smart Functions

Turning off the functions of smart toilet-type portable toilets requires operation via a remote control or physical controls, which vary depending on the brand and model:

1. Turning Off the Automatic Lid Opening

Operation via the remote control:

  • General method: Press and hold the "lid closing" button or a combination of buttons (such as "settings + lid closing") on the remote control. Some models may require referring to the instruction manual to adjust parameters;
  • Brand examples: For the Hengjie Q7, press and hold the "lid closing" button for 3 seconds; for the Faenza FL21008E, press the "flushing" and "drying" buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds.

2. Turning Off the Automatic Flushing After Leaving the Seat

Operation via the remote control or physical switches:

  • General method: Press and hold the "settings" or "function" button on the remote control to enter the menu, select the "flushing after leaving the seat" option, and turn it off;
  • Brand examples: For the Arrow AKB1108-2, press and hold the flushing button for 5 seconds to switch the state; some models can be turned off by cutting off the power (but this will disable other smart functions).

3. Turning Off the Automatic Flushing

Choose the operation method according to the sensing mode:

  • Sensing mode: Wait for the human body to leave the sensing range (usually 10-30 seconds) and it will stop automatically;
  • Manual button: Press the manual flushing button on the side of the toilet bowl directly;
  • Timed closing: Set the flushing duration via the remote control (for example, for the Xiaomi toilet, rotate the bottom switch to "OFF");
  • Sensitivity adjustment: Reduce the sensing sensitivity to reduce false triggering (for example, for the Jomoo toilet, unplug the power plug, restart it, and then set it).

Precautions: Before operation, confirm the power status (smart functions require power). After closing, it is recommended to test whether the functions have completely stopped to avoid residual water stains or accidental activation. If the operation is ineffective, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer's after-sales service or refer to the instruction manual for the specific model.
