How to Clean and Maintain Container Houses
Admin September 17, 2026
Cleaning and maintaining container houses requires a scientific approach that combines daily cleaning, deep cleaning, facility maintenance, and handling of special issues, taking into account material properties and usage scenarios.

I. Daily Cleaning (1-2 times per week)
- Floor Cleaning: Choose cleaning methods based on the floor material. For tiles or wooden floors, use a neutral cleaner (such as diluted dish soap) to mop, avoiding strong acids or alkalis that can corrode the surface. For carpets, use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust, treat local stains with a specialized cleaner, and regularly air them out to prevent mold. Clean dust from corners and crevices with a small brush to prevent pest infestation.
- Walls and Ceilings: Wipe metal or PVC walls with a damp cloth to remove dust. For stubborn stains, use alcohol or a specialized cleaner and wipe gently to avoid scratches. Wooden walls should be dusted regularly and kept dry to prevent warping or mold. Use a telescopic dusting brush to clean the gaps in the ceiling and check for signs of water leakage.
- Doors, Windows, and Ventilation Systems: Clean dust from door and window tracks with a small brush and apply a small amount of lubricant to keep sliding smooth. Remove window screens and gently brush them with a soft brush or use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust. Check ventilation filters for blockages and clean or replace them monthly (if removable).
II. Deep Cleaning (Once per month)
- Kitchen Area: Empty cabinet interiors and wipe them with a damp cloth, checking for insect infestation or mold. Clean appliance surfaces after disconnecting the power, such as defrosting the refrigerator and using baking soda water to remove odors, softening stains in the microwave or oven with hot water before wiping, and flushing sinks and drains with a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda to remove odors and blockages.
- Bathroom Area: Clean the toilet with a specialized toilet cleaner, avoiding corrosion of metal parts. Spray glass cleaner on the shower glass door and scrape it dry to prevent water scale buildup. Remove the filter from the floor drain to clean hair and pour hot water and baking soda down the drain to unclog it. Disconnect the exhaust fan blades after turning off the power, clean them with a toothbrush, and ensure a proper seal.
- Furniture and Soft Furnishings: Regularly rotate sofas or mattresses, clean them with a螨虫仪 (mite cleaner), and air them out in the sun to kill bacteria. Check labels before machine-washing curtains or bedding and dry them at high temperatures to kill mites.
III. Facility Maintenance (Quarterly/Annually)
- Electrical System: Turn off the main switch and check for loose sockets or switches, using a voltage tester to check for electrical leakage. Replace aging light bulbs and clean dust from lampshades. Clean the filters of air conditioners or heaters monthly, check the refrigerant pressure before winter use, and clear debris around the outdoor unit to ensure ventilation.
- Plumbing System: Check for leaks at water pipe connections and wrap insulation around them before winter to prevent freezing and cracking. Pour a pipe unclogger down the drain every quarter to prevent blockages.
- Structural Inspection: Check the container shell for cracked welds and apply anti-rust paint to protect the metal surface. Replace aging and hardened door and window seals to prevent air and water leaks.
IV. Handling Special Issues
- Mold Treatment: Wipe walls or ceilings with diluted 84 disinfectant and keep the area well-ventilated and dry. For small areas of mold on furniture, use alcohol to wipe; for large areas, replace the boards.
- Odor Removal: Place lemon slices or coffee grounds in the kitchen to absorb odors. Use activated carbon packs or automatic air fresheners in the bathroom.
- Pest Control: Seal gaps around doors, windows, and pipes with silicone. Regularly disinfect and avoid stacking debris around the house.
