How to Choose a Single Portable Toilet

Admin October 09, 2026

When selecting a single portable toilet, it is essential to evaluate it comprehensively from five dimensions: material, odor and slip resistance, functional configuration, installation and transportation, and after-sales service. Choose the appropriate product based on the usage scenario, foot traffic, duration, and budget.

1. Material and Structural Craftsmanship The material directly affects durability, cleaning difficulty, and cost. Prioritize thickened fiberglass or stainless steel materials: Fiberglass is waterproof, moisture-resistant, and cost-effective, suitable for short-term or outdoor scenarios; stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, easy to clean, and suitable for long-term use but comes at a higher cost. Avoid metal sandwich panels (prone to rust and difficult to clean). Check if the welding process is smooth, if there is an anti-rust coating on the surface, and if the structural frame is stable to prevent deformation during transportation or use.

2. Odor and Slip Resistance Design

  • Odor Control: The core lies in ventilation, sewage disposal, and sealing. The ventilation system should be equipped with exhaust fans or vents to ensure air circulation; among sewage disposal methods, water flushing provides thorough cleaning but requires connection to a water source and sewage pipeline, suitable for places with complete municipal facilities; foam flushing isolates odors with foam but consumes electricity, suitable for scenarios without a water source; bagging directly seals feces, minimizing odors but requiring regular replacement of the bags. Sealing should be checked to ensure a tight connection between the squat toilet and the sewage pipeline and that rubber sealing strips are used for door seams.
  • Slip Resistance: The floor should use anti-slip panels (such as anti-slip tiles, PVC anti-slip mats) or be laid with anti-slip mats, with a slope controlled at 1%-2% to avoid water accumulation and reduce the risk of slipping.

3. Functional Configuration and Specifications

  • Basic Functions: Must be equipped with a squat toilet or sit toilet and a simple flushing system; advanced functions can be added as needed, such as a sink, mirror, storage rack, heating and drying equipment (suitable for winter), etc.
  • Size and Space: Common specifications are 1.2-1.5 meters in length, 0.8-1.0 meters in width, and 1.8-2.0 meters in height. Inside, ensure that the headspace from the standing position to the top is ≥0.8 meters, with sufficient turning space, and reserve positions for facilities such as toilet paper holders and sinks.
  • Drainage Method: Direct drainage requires municipal sewage conditions, while water storage type (with a sewage tank capacity of 100-300 liters) is suitable for outdoor scenarios without sewage facilities and requires regular cleaning of the sewage tank.

4. Installation and Transportation Requirements Before installation, ensure that the site is level (hardened or laid with anti-slip mats) to prevent equipment tilting; during transportation, choose professional vehicles (such as flatbed trucks, cranes), and plan routes in advance for mountainous or narrow roads to avoid collision damage.

5. After-sales and Customization Services Prioritize manufacturers that offer nationwide warranty, 24-hour after-sales response, and a spare parts inventory to reduce maintenance costs; manufacturers that support customization of size, color, and function can better adapt to special scenario needs.
