How to Choose a Portable Toilet

Admin September 22, 2026

The selection of a portable toilet should be based on the usage scenario, material and workmanship, and sewage discharge method. The following aspects can be considered comprehensively:

I. Select the Model According to the Usage Scenario

Different scenarios have significantly different functional requirements for portable toilets, and targeted selection is necessary:

  • Short-term outdoor scenarios (such as construction sites and temporary events): Prioritize simple steel-structured portable toilets. They have a sturdy structure, are easy to assemble and disassemble, can be repeatedly transported, and are suitable for short-term high-frequency use.
  • Long-term outdoor scenarios (such as scenic spots and parks): Prefabricated landscape portable toilets are recommended. They have a simple and elegant appearance, good sealing performance, and can meet the needs of long-term placement.
  • Sites without a pipeline network (such as rural areas and camping bases): Pipeline-free ecological portable toilets are more suitable. They do not require complex civil engineering construction, have a reasonable sewage discharge design, and are easy to clean.
  • Large-scale event scenarios (such as sports events and exhibitions): Multi-compartment portable public toilets can meet the needs of a large number of people in a short time. They have a sufficient number of squatting positions and high turnover efficiency.

II. Focus on Material and Workmanship

Material and workmanship directly affect the durability and user experience of portable toilets. Attention should be paid to the following core components:

  • Main frame: High-quality products use hot-dip galvanized square steel welded frames, which have strong wind, sun, and corrosion resistance and are not prone to rust during long-term outdoor use; ordinary thin iron sheets or thin-walled square tubes are prone to corrosion and require frequent maintenance.
  • Exterior wall panels:
    • Metal carved panels: They have thermal insulation, waterproof, and corrosion-resistant properties and are suitable for municipal and scenic spot scenarios;
    • Color steel panels: They are lightweight and cost-effective and are suitable for short-term use on construction sites;
    • Landscape modeling panels: They have a high appearance and are suitable for gardens and cultural tourism scenic spots.
  • Internal configurations: They should include anti-slip and wear-resistant floors, odor-proof ceramic sanitary ware, ventilation and air exchange equipment, energy-saving lighting, privacy door locks, and storage hooks. Sealing workmanship and odor-proof design are crucial.

III. Select the Sewage Discharge Method According to the Site Conditions

The sewage discharge method directly affects the later operation and maintenance costs and should be selected according to the pipeline network conditions of the site:

  • Sites with a municipal pipeline network: Prioritize direct discharge type, where sewage is directly connected to the pipeline network, and operation and maintenance are simple.
  • Sites without a pipeline network: Options include packaging type (feces are packaged and treated centrally) or biodegradation type (using microorganisms to decompose feces) to avoid sewage overflow.

IV. Other Precautions

  • Avoid only looking at the price: It is necessary to comprehensively evaluate the adaptability, durability, and worry-free level. Low-priced products may have high later maintenance costs due to poor materials.
  • Prioritize products made of solid materials: For example, products using 100*100 galvanized square steel welded frames are more environmentally friendly and durable.
