How to Build Prefabricated Houses
The construction process of prefabricated houses generally includes foundation treatment, structural installation, module assembly, and specialized steps (for specific types), as detailed below:

I. Foundation Treatment
- Foundation Leveling and Pad Pouring: First, clear the site of weeds and level the ground. Excavate foundation pits to a depth of approximately 60 centimeters, lay white plastic sheeting to prevent moisture loss from the concrete, and then pour concrete to form a foundation pad. This step ensures uniform foundation bearing capacity and prevents later settlement.
- Foundation Pile Installation and Beam Assembly: After the concrete has set, use a drill to bore holes and secure anchor plates. Install prefabricated 5-ton foundation piles (each with reserved lifting holes) using a mobile crane, then quickly connect the beams using a mortise-and-tenon joint. Secure with nuts, fill the gaps with expanding foam for sealing, and apply cement anti-rust coating to the nuts. This step requires strict leveling calibration, with errors controlled to within millimeters.
- Backfilling and Foundation Pouring: After completing the foundation frame, backfill with soil and pour a second layer of concrete to form a complete and stable foundation structure, providing support for subsequent module installation.
II. Modular Assembly (Taking Chinese Prefabricated Houses as an Example)
The building is disassembled into independent modules (such as ceilings, floors, plumbing, and electrical systems), prefabricated in the factory, and then transported to the site. Use a tower crane to assemble the modules, which are labeled with detailed information (project name, model, production date, etc.), according to the design drawings. Utilize high-precision positioning technology to control errors and ensure tight module connections. This method significantly shortens the construction period, and the quality is more stable due to factory environment control.
III. Specialized Steps for Demountable Container Houses
- Bottom Frame Installation: Connect the lower corner fittings to the bottom beams, secure the stringers (specifications such as 40x80x2960mm), and measure the diagonals to ensure frame perpendicularity, avoiding installation deviations in subsequent steps.
- Floor and Column Adjustment: Lay MGO boards and level the floor. Install the columns (temporarily do not tighten the bolts), connect the top longitudinal beams to the upper corner fittings, and then adjust the column perpendicularity using professional tools to ensure structural stability.
- Wall Panel and Roof Installation: Install wall panels, ceilings, and doors and windows (reserve positions for supporting wall panels), lay glass wool insulation, and finally secure the drainage channels and roof tiles to complete waterproofing and insulation.
Different types of prefabricated houses (such as rural prefabricated houses in South Korea, Chinese modular buildings, and demountable container houses) vary in construction techniques but all achieve the goals of shortened construction periods and controlled quality through the model of factory-prefabricated standardized components + efficient on-site assembly.
