How to Build a Container House
Building a container house requires gradually completing steps such as foundation construction, structural fixation, modification, and decoration installation according to the design plan. Here are the specific construction methods:

I. Foundation Construction
The foundation is the core of the stability of a container house. If using a concrete pile foundation, evenly drive 8-12 concrete piles into the ground. The piles need to penetrate deep into the stable soil layer to ensure uniform force distribution after the containers are arranged. If choosing screw piles, use a specialized machine to screw the steel piles 2 meters deep into the ground, monitoring pressure and torque in real-time to ensure each pile can bear a weight of 5 tons. Screw piles have the advantages of quick construction and environmental reversibility, making them suitable for temporary or movable house scenarios.
II. Container Fixation and Connection
Containers need to be physically fixed to form a stable structure. First, place individual containers securely on the foundation piles, using a staggered arrangement to enhance overall lateral resistance. Reinforce the connection points between the containers and the foundation through welding. Containers are then connected horizontally or vertically using high-strength bolts to ensure no looseness at the joints. If the house requires a multi-story structure, steel beams need to be welded on top of the containers to form a load-bearing framework before stacking additional containers.
III. Cutting and Modification
Modify the containers locally according to design requirements. Use a plasma cutter or angle grinder to cut out door and window openings at specified locations. After cutting, grind the edges to avoid burrs that could cause injury. If expanding the space, cut and remove adjacent side panels of multiple containers and connect the remaining structures through welding to form a large-span space. During modification, retain the original load-bearing framework of the containers to ensure structural safety.
IV. Sealing and Rust Prevention Treatment
The metal material of containers is susceptible to environmental corrosion and requires special protection. Seal the edges and joints after cutting with nitrile rubber-based aluminum foil tape to form a moisture-proof and anti-corrosion layer. The welded parts should be ground smooth and then painted with two coats of anti-rust paint, ensuring a paint thickness of no less than 80 microns. If the house is located in coastal or high-humidity areas, it is recommended to install anti-corrosion wooden boards or metal composite panels on the exterior walls to further isolate moisture.
V. Interior Decoration and Equipment Installation
Optimize the interior space after completing the main structure. First, install water and electricity pipelines by cutting grooves in the interior walls of the containers and embedding the pipes, with proper waterproofing. Then, cut partition walls according to functional requirements, commonly using materials such as light steel keel gypsum board or glass. Finally, lay the floor, install doors and windows, and equip with lighting, ventilation, and other devices. Furniture placement should avoid structural load-bearing parts to avoid damaging the stability of the house.
VI. Modular and Prefabricated Options
For efficient construction, modular container houses or assembled houses can be chosen. Modular houses are prefabricated in factories, with integrated water, electricity, and decoration systems within the container units, requiring only assembly on-site and taking 3-5 days to complete. Assembled houses are connected through steel frames and composite panels, allowing flexible layout adjustments and suitable for personalized customization needs. Both methods can significantly shorten the construction period but cost 10%-20% more than traditional construction methods.
