How About the Floor of Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

The floor materials of container houses are diverse, with common types including fiber cement boards and wooden floors, etc. Different materials have different characteristics, and the floor's sturdiness can be tested through various methods.

Common Floor Materials and Their Characteristics:

  • Fiber Cement Boards: Most container houses use fiber cement boards for flooring. Made from cement as the base material and reinforced with mineral fibers and other materials, these boards exhibit remarkable properties such as fire resistance, insulation, moisture resistance, heat insulation, and sound insulation. They are lightweight yet strong, with good load-bearing capacity, and are easy to install, cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing, safe, and have a long lifespan. After being pressed by a 7,000-ton press, the boards do not warp or deform, and their performance remains unaffected even in humid environments, without undergoing any deterioration that would impact usability.
  • Wooden Floors: In some high-end customized container houses, wooden floors are used to enhance the interior decor and living comfort. However, when using wooden floors, it is necessary to check their moisture content with a moisture meter. Solid wood floors with a moisture content exceeding 19% will accelerate decay.

Floor Sturdiness Testing Methods:

  • Visual Inspection: Check for cracks, holes, or significant wear on the floor. Defects with a depth exceeding 3mm can affect load-bearing capacity.
  • Acoustic Testing: Tap the floor with a hard object (such as an iron rod) and judge the presence of voids or looseness based on the sound. Solid areas produce a dull sound, while hollow areas emit a hollow sound.
  • Connector Inspection: Check for rust, weld failure, or loose bolts at the connection points between the floor and the container body, as rust at these points can lead to support failure risks.
  • Mechanical Testing: According to the ISO1496 standard, the floor of a 20-foot container must be able to withstand a uniformly distributed load of 14,000 kg. Forklifts can be used for load testing to simulate actual working conditions.
  • Structural Integrity Inspection: Check for deformation or corrosion of the bottom crossbeams. Crossbeams with deformation exceeding 5mm/m should be scrapped, and rust covering 10% of the area affects overall strength.
