Precautions for Demolishing Precast Slabs in Houses

Admin September 19, 2026

The precautions for demolishing precast slabs in houses mainly include three stages: before demolition, during demolition, and after demolition, as detailed below:

Before Demolition

  • Safety Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive safety assessment of the house structure or surrounding environment to determine whether the demolition work will pose safety hazards to the overall structure of the house or surrounding buildings. If risks exist, take corresponding measures, such as installing shock absorbers, to prevent vibrations from affecting the safety of surrounding buildings.
  • Plan Development: Develop a detailed demolition plan that covers aspects such as the demolition sequence, required tools, and personnel assignments to ensure the demolition work proceeds in an orderly manner.
  • Professional Assessment: Engage a professional team to assess whether the precast slab building can be safely demolished. Professional teams possess rich experience and expertise, enabling them to more accurately judge the feasibility and safety of the demolition.
  • Site Preparation: Cut off water, electricity, and gas supplies to prevent accidents such as electric shocks and fires during the demolition process. Set up iron sheet fences around the site and hang signs indicating "Construction Site" to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering.

During Demolition

  • Tool Selection: Use appropriate tools for demolition, such as hammers, saw blades, electric hammers, and cutting machines. Avoid using overly aggressive methods, such as blasting, to prevent adverse impacts on the surrounding environment.
  • Connection Cutting: First, cut off the connections between the precast slabs and surrounding structures, such as steel bars and bolts, to ensure the slabs can detach smoothly during demolition, reducing pulling and damage to other structures.
  • Force Control: Gradually demolish the precast slabs according to the plan, paying attention to controlling the demolition force and speed to avoid impacting the house structure. Use methods such as cutting for demolition and avoid using excessive force.
  • Sequence Adherence: Follow a specific sequence during demolition. Always demolish from top to bottom, starting with non-load-bearing walls like partition walls and finally moving to the main beams of the floor slabs. Support the precast slabs with steel frames.
  • Personnel Protection: Workers should wear protective equipment such as safety helmets and gloves. In dusty conditions, they should also wear gas masks to ensure personal safety.
  • Dust Reduction: Take measures such as water spraying for dust reduction to minimize the harm caused by the large amount of dust generated during the demolition of precast slabs to the environment and human health.

After Demolition

  • Debris Cleanup: Promptly clean up the debris from the demolished precast slabs and dispose of it properly to avoid environmental pollution.
  • Structural Inspection: Inspect the house structure to ensure no safety hazards, such as cracks or deformations, remain.
  • Repair Work: If necessary, carry out repair work on the demolished areas, such as filling holes and reinforcing structures, to restore the normal use of the house.
  • Waste Disposal: Do not pile up construction waste randomly. Transport it away in covered trucks to prevent the waste from scattering during transportation and causing environmental pollution.
