Special-Shaped Prefabricated Panels for House Decoration
Commonly used special-shaped prefabricated panels in house decoration include stone special-shaped panels, GRG, GRC, UHPC, stainless steel special-shaped decorative panels, and whole-house custom special-shaped cabinet panels. When selecting, it is necessary to make a comprehensive judgment based on scene requirements, performance characteristics, and construction conditions.

Stone special-shaped panels are made from natural or artificial stone as the base material. They are formed into non-standard shapes such as arcs and double-curved surfaces through processes like hole-making and edge-cutting, with customizable thickness. Their advantages lie in the texture and durability of natural stone, making them suitable for building curtain walls, curved structural components, and other scenes. Construction requires the use of BIM technology for panel division and processes such as hydraulic stretching forming and double-curved back-rib welding to achieve curved surface forming. However, natural stone has a relatively high cost, and its processing accuracy is limited by material characteristics.
GRG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum) is specifically designed for high-end indoor special-shaped decoration. It uses high-purity gypsum as the base material, with the addition of glass fibers and environmentally friendly additives. Its core advantages include:
- Modeling capability: It can achieve complex shapes such as double-curved surfaces, reliefs, and hollow-outs, with a fine and white surface, suitable for acoustic modeling such as theater ceilings;
- Lightweight: With a thickness of 5-10mm, its self-weight is only 16-18kg/㎡, reducing installation costs for high-rise large-span ceilings;
- Limitations: It has poor water resistance and is strictly prohibited for use in wet areas such as swimming pools and bathrooms.
GRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement) uses cement, sand, and alkali-resistant glass fibers as the base material, primarily for exterior wall decoration, with short-term use possible in a small number of dry indoor areas. Its characteristics are:
- Modeling and cost: It can produce conventional curved surfaces and stone-like shapes, but has insufficient precision for small arcs and carvings, and requires additional surface treatment due to roughness;
- Load-bearing requirements: With a thickness of 8-12mm, its self-weight reaches 22-28kg/㎡, requiring reinforcement of load-bearing keels for large-scale use in high-rise indoor areas.
UHPC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete) is made from ultra-fine reactive powders and high-strength organic fibers, suitable for high-end indoor and outdoor scenes. Its advantages include:
- Ultra-thin and high-strength: A thickness of 3-5mm can meet strength requirements, with strong crack resistance and durability, suitable for both dry and wet environments;
- Process cost: It can produce plain panels, but the cost of molds for complex multi-layer carvings is relatively high.
Stainless steel special-shaped decorative panels use 304/316L as the base material, formed through processes such as 3D modeling and CNC cutting, with a curved surface accuracy of ≤1mm, supporting complex shapes such as double-curved and twisted surfaces. They require technologies such as argon arc welding and seamless splicing to achieve artistic-level effects, suitable for high-end scenes such as art installations and special-shaped walls.
Whole-house custom special-shaped cabinet panels need to address issues such as internal stress and water absorption of the panels. Technical solutions include:
- Blank treatment: Stress release in a constant temperature and humidity chamber;
- Precision processing: Digital cutting and five-axis special-shaped grinding (with a tolerance of ±0.5mm);
- Flexible edge banding: Special adhesives to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction.
Selection recommendations:
- For indoor dry areas, prioritize GRG (for fine modeling) or UHPC (for strong durability);
- For wet environments, avoid GRG and choose GRC (with reinforcement) or UHPC;
- For high-end art decoration, consider stainless steel special-shaped panels or stone special-shaped panels;
- For special-shaped cabinets, select manufacturers with stress release processes and precision processing capabilities.
