Homemade Mobile Toilet Odor-Proof Floor Drain

Admin September 28, 2026

The homemade mobile toilet odor-proof floor drain can be achieved through the following three methods, all of which utilize flexible materials to form a one-way drainage structure, effectively blocking odors and small flying insects:

Method 1: Plastic Bag/Balloon Method

  1. Materials Needed: An empty mineral water bottle, a thin plastic bag (or保鲜袋, balloon), scissors, rubber bands or tape.
  2. Steps:
    • Cut off the upper part of the mineral water bottle, adjusting the length according to the depth of the floor drain opening.
    • Remove the bottom and handle parts of the plastic bag to form a tubular structure.
    • Insert the plastic bag from inside the bottle's mouth and turn it outwards to wrap around the outside of the bottle's mouth, securing it with rubber bands or tape.
    • Insert the device into the floor drain opening, ensuring the plastic bag part faces downwards. Test whether the plastic bag can be flushed open by water flow during drainage and automatically closes when there is no water.
    • Finally, cover the floor drain with its lid to complete the installation.
  3. Principle: During drainage, the water flow flushes open the plastic bag to form a passage. After the water stops, the plastic bag naturally closes due to gravity, blocking the return of odors.

Method 2: Mineral Water Bottle and Plastic Bag Combination Method

  1. Materials Needed: A mineral water bottle, a plastic bag, scissors, rubber bands or tape.
  2. Steps:
    • Cut off the upper part of the mineral water bottle, making the size slightly larger than the diameter of the floor drain opening.
    • Cut off the bottom of the plastic bag, thread it through the opening of the bottle, and turn it outwards, securing the edges with rubber bands or tape.
    • Insert the device into the floor drain, testing whether the plastic bag automatically opens for drainage when water enters and closes to prevent odors when the water stops.
    • Cover the floor drain with its lid to ensure a tight seal.
  3. Principle: The flexibility of the plastic bag allows it to open under the impact of water flow and return to a closed state when there is no water, creating a one-way valve effect.

Method 3: Simple Plastic Bag Odor-Proof Device

  1. Materials Needed: A rectangular thin plastic bag (such as a garbage bag or保鲜袋), scissors.
  2. Steps:
    • Cut open the non-perforated end of the plastic bag to make both ends pass through.
    • Insert one end of the plastic bag into the sewer, leaving part of it outside for fixation. Keep a longer section of the plastic bag inside the pipe to enhance the odor-proof effect.
    • Cover the floor drain with its lid and fix the plastic bag, testing whether the water flow can drain normally and whether the remaining water after drainage causes the plastic bag to adhere, blocking odors.
  3. Principle: The residual plastic bag inside the pipe forms a sealed layer through water adhesion, preventing odors and small flying insects from passing through.

Precautions:

  • Ensure the materials are clean during production to avoid contaminating the drainage system.
  • Regularly check whether the device is damaged or clogged and replace it promptly.
  • If the floor drain opening is large, adjust the size of the container or add fixing points to enhance stability.
