Portable Toilet for High-Speed Traffic Jams

Admin September 26, 2026

For the demand for portable toilets during high-speed traffic jams, there are currently two main solutions: vehicle-mounted emergency urination bags and the Seres 'vehicle-mounted toilet and vehicle' patent. For short-term emergencies, the former is recommended, while for the long term, the progress of the latter can be monitored.

Vehicle-mounted emergency urination bags are currently the most mature short-term emergency solution. Their design offers significant advantages: the curved opening design can accommodate different body types of men, women, the elderly, and children. The built-in absorbent sand can quickly solidify urine, effectively preventing odor diffusion. In terms of capacity, actual tests show that 600 milliliters of water only fills half of the bag, indicating a larger total capacity. Some products are labeled as having a capacity of up to 700CC, which can meet single-use emergency needs. Sealability tests demonstrate that the bag will not leak even when pulled vigorously after use and can be directly discarded, avoiding secondary pollution. This product has been widely used in scenarios such as high-speed traffic jams during holidays and long-distance travel. With mature technology and low cost, it is currently the most convenient choice.

The Seres 'vehicle-mounted toilet and vehicle' patent provides a long-term solution but needs to overcome multiple challenges. This patent adopts a hidden design where the main body of the toilet can be drawn out from under the seat along a slide rail in emergencies and pushed back after use, occupying no additional space. However, the patent was applied for in April 2025 and approved on April 10, 2026, and currently, there is no clear mass-production plan. In addition, this solution needs to address three core issues: first, privacy protection, which requires the design of a reasonable shielding structure; second, odor control, which requires the installation of an efficient ventilation or filtration system; and third, cleaning and maintenance, which requires simplifying the post-use cleaning process. These challenges may affect its commercialization process.

Comprehensive recommendation: If there is an immediate need to solve the toilet problem during high-speed traffic jams, vehicle-mounted emergency urination bags are a more reliable choice due to their mature technology, low cost, and easy availability. If interested in a long-term solution, one can continuously monitor the mass-production progress of the Seres patent but should be prepared to wait for the technology to be perfected. In the future, with the progress of material science and spatial design, the convenience and comfort of vehicle-mounted portable toilets are expected to further improve.
