Renovation of Mobile Toilets in Gonghe County

Admin October 16, 2026

Gonghe County has taken measures such as purchasing tourist toilets, renovating problematic rural toilets, and reforming the management of tourist toilets in its mobile toilet renovation efforts.

I. Purchasing Project of Mobile Tourist Toilets in Gonghe County

Gonghe County has implemented a purchasing project for mobile tourist toilets, with a total investment of 280,000 yuan, funded by the second batch of central and provincial financial support for rural revitalization in 2024. The project is located at the Xiangpi Mountain tourist spot in Luse Village, Shinaihai Town, Gonghe County, aiming to build and install two 5+2 mobile tourist toilets. The construction period is from August to September 2024. This project not only improves the infrastructure of the tourist spot and enhances the toilet experience for tourists but also innovatively implements a 'business-supported toilet' mechanism, utilizing the management room to set up sales windows for local agricultural specialties, thereby driving income growth for local residents.

II. Renovation of Problematic Rural Toilets

Gonghe County has thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the rural toilet revolution, adhering to a pragmatic and problem-oriented approach. It has conducted a comprehensive survey of rural household toilets renovated with financial support from various departments from 2013 to 2021. A total of 5,516 problematic toilets were identified and classified according to their issues and causes. In response to these problematic toilets, Gonghe County adheres to the principles of adapting measures to local conditions and classifying and phasing renovations. Townships and administrative villages classify the problematic toilets and establish renovation ledgers, while the county-level agriculture and animal husbandry department takes the lead in providing classified guidance on the progress of toilet renovations to ensure orderly progress.

III. Reform of Tourist Toilet Management

Faced with the dual challenges of heavy tourist traffic and ecological protection, Gonghe County has initiated a reform of tourist toilet management. Taking the creation of the Qinghai Lake demonstration zone as an international ecological tourism destination as an opportunity, the county boldly explores a new market-oriented operation path of 'business-supported toilets and business-built toilets.' By introducing professional management and maintenance teams and embedding cultural and creative exhibitions and sales, as well as convenient services, within the toilets, Gonghe County has transformed tourist toilets from mere 'consumptive facilities' into 'sustainable cultural and tourism stations,' effectively improving toilet management levels and service quality.
