II. Fire Safety Hazards of Residential Container Houses
Although some products claim to have fire-resistant properties, there are still significant risks in actual use. On November 11, 2024, a fire broke out in a container house at the Jianrisheng Building Materials Store in Jinli Town, Gaoyao District, Zhaoqing City, resulting in 3 deaths. The accident investigation revealed:
- Direct cause: An electrical circuit fault triggered the fire, exposing defects in the internal circuit design or installation of the container house.
- Indirect causes:
- Lack of fire separation: There was no effective fire separation between the accommodation and business premises, causing the fire to spread rapidly.
- Disorderly wiring of electrical circuits: Illegal wiring increased the risk of short circuits.
- Blocked escape routes: Clutter was piled up at the entrance of the container house, hindering personnel evacuation.
III. Usage Recommendations
- Choose compliant products: Give priority to purchasing products with fire certification and standardized circuit design, and avoid using inferior materials or making unauthorized modifications.
- Standardize electrical safety: Regularly inspect electrical circuits, avoid unauthorized wiring, and use qualified electrical equipment.
- Keep escape routes clear: It is strictly prohibited to pile up clutter at the entrance to ensure that personnel can evacuate quickly in emergencies.
- Strengthen fire separation: If used in mixed accommodation and business scenarios, fire separations should be set up according to fire safety requirements.
