Gannan Mobile Toilets
Mobile toilets in Gannan are widely used in local scenic spots, mainly influenced by the unique geographical environment, featuring strong adaptability, diverse types, and professional maintenance.

Geographical Adaptability
Gannan is located on the northeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with a high average altitude. Most scenic spots are vast and sparsely populated, and the climate and terrain pose significant constraints on infrastructure construction. The construction of traditional fixed toilets is limited by changes in permafrost layers and ecological protection requirements, while mobile toilets, with their modular design, can be rapidly deployed during non-permafrost periods without extensive ground excavation, reducing damage to alpine meadows and soil structures, and demonstrating good adaptability in installation and adjustment.
Types and Characteristics
There are two main types of mobile toilets used in Gannan scenic spots. Biodegradable Type: Equipped with biodegradation devices that utilize microorganisms to decompose organic matter. However, in high-altitude and cold environments, their efficiency can be affected by temperature, and some facilities add insulation layers to maintain reaction activity. Vacuum Collection Type: Utilizes a vacuum collection system to reduce water consumption through negative pressure technology, using only about one-tenth of the water required by traditional flush toilets, making it more suitable for areas with scarce water resources, although regular sealed transportation is required.
Waste Disposal
The treated waste is usually transported to designated locations for centralized disposal. In ecologically sensitive areas like Gannan, disposal methods must avoid secondary pollution to water sources and soil. Common practices include using the degraded residue as non-agricultural compost material or filling it after harmless treatment. The entire process must adhere to strict transportation procedures to prevent leakage during transit and often needs to be coordinated with the local sanitation service system to ensure the safety and compliance of end-point disposal.
Daily Maintenance Points
The daily maintenance of mobile toilets involves multiple technical aspects. In addition to regular cleaning, special attention must be paid to pipe freeze prevention in high-altitude areas, with many facilities using electric tracing technology to prevent freezing in winter. Due to seasonal fluctuations in tourist numbers in scenic spots, the layout and quantity of mobile toilets need to be dynamically adjusted based on actual data. Some scenic spots install pedestrian flow monitoring devices as a basis for facility allocation, achieving a balance between peak tourist seasons and off-seasons.
