Arched Prefabricated Panels for Factory Building Roofs

Admin September 19, 2026

Arched prefabricated panels for factory building roofs mainly come in two types: concrete arch panels and metal arch panels, each with distinct characteristics and wide applications.

Concrete Arched Prefabricated Panels

  • Characteristics: These panels combine arch ribs and arch waves into a whole using cast-in-place concrete, integrating the advantages of prefabricated assembly with overall load-bearing properties. Their roofs feature a combined panel-beam structure, offering large spans, light weight, good thermal insulation, and excellent overall integrity. The double-curved load-bearing structure ensures more uniform load transfer, and when local pressure is excessive, it can autonomously adjust the balance through structural deformation. On-site construction requires formwork erection and steel reinforcement pouring, resulting in relatively long construction times. However, they boast exceptional seismic performance and are reliable for spans up to 30 meters.
  • Application Scenarios: These panels are commonly used in buildings with high requirements for structural strength and seismic performance, such as the roofs of tall grain flat warehouses, and are widely applied in grain depot roof projects.

Metal Arched Prefabricated Panels

  • Characteristics: Prefabricated in factories and transported to the site, these panels are installed like building blocks, secured through locking seams. This method offers fast construction speeds and lower costs. An area of 10,000 square meters can be completed in just 20 days, with a maximum span of up to 60 meters, meeting the needs of large-span buildings.
  • Application Scenarios: These panels are suitable for projects that are sensitive to construction speed and cost and have relatively lower requirements for structural strength. In large factories, warehouses, and other buildings where rapid completion and cost savings are pursued, metal arched prefabricated panels are a good choice.

Construction Techniques

The construction of arched prefabricated panels typically employs techniques such as ground prefabrication and lifting, full-formwork support frame in-situ casting, and aerial prefabrication and sliding. Different techniques are suitable for different project requirements and site conditions. For example, ground prefabrication and lifting are suitable for sites with good conditions and easy lifting operations; full-formwork support frame in-situ casting is suitable for projects with high requirements for structural integrity and site conditions that allow for the erection of support frames; aerial prefabrication and sliding techniques play a role in special sites or projects with high requirements for construction efficiency. Additionally, the adoption of prefabricated-cast-in-place composite arched roofs at Wuzhong Road Station on Shanghai Metro Line 15 provides a new example for the application of arched prefabricated panels.
