External Insulation of Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

External insulation of container houses can be achieved by selecting appropriate materials, optimizing structural design, focusing on joint sealing, and incorporating temperature control equipment. Details are as follows:

  • Selecting appropriate insulation materials: Common thermal insulation materials include polystyrene boards, polyurethane foam boards, and rock wool boards. These materials have low thermal conductivity and good thermal insulation properties, effectively blocking heat transfer. For example, when the thickness of the polyurethane foam layer exceeds 50mm, it can block heat conduction. Combined with an outer layer of anti-corrosion color steel plates to reflect sunlight and an inner layer of fire-resistant gypsum boards and moisture-proof films working together to control humidity and stabilize temperature, good insulation effects can be achieved. The national 'Technical Standard for Steel Structure Integrated Houses' requires that the heat transfer coefficient of the walls of residential container houses be ≤0.45W/(㎡·K), which is 1.8 times the insulation efficiency of traditional brick-and-concrete walls.

  • Optimizing structural design: Additional thermal insulation layers can be added, and external insulation layers or internal thermal insulation boards can be installed on the outer wall surfaces or internal walls to form thermal insulation barriers, reducing heat transfer and maintaining stable indoor temperatures. At the same time, optimize the design of windows and doors by using double- or triple-glazed windows with low thermal conductivity and good thermal insulation properties. Install sealing strips around the edges of windows and doors to reduce heat leakage.

  • Focusing on joint sealing: If there are gaps at the joints of temporary building panels, a cold bridge effect can easily occur, reducing the overall insulation performance. Therefore, excellent sealing techniques should be adopted, using appropriate sealing materials at the joints and connections of insulation materials. Professional construction methods and materials should be used at the junctions of the insulation layer and the container structure to ensure sealing and structural stability.

  • Incorporating temperature control equipment: In addition to the above passive insulation measures, facilities such as air conditioners, entrance air curtains, and graphene floor heating can be added to actively regulate indoor temperature and further enhance living comfort.
