Exportable Prefabricated Housing

Admin September 18, 2026

Exportable prefabricated housing primarily refers to modular construction, a novel building model where structures are broken down into independent unit modules, prefabricated in factories, and then transported to the site for assembly.

Core Advantages

Domestically produced 'prefabricated houses' boast core advantages such as rapid delivery, environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, strong adaptability, and controllable quality. Taking modular houses exported from Guangdong Dongguan Port to ASEAN markets like Indonesia and Vietnam as an example, these building modules have completed all processes, including water and electricity installation and interior decoration, in the factory. Upon arrival at their destination, they can be directly assembled on-site, significantly shortening the construction period.

Significant Growth in Export Data

From an export perspective, China's prefabricated building exports surged from $1.472 billion in 2015 to approximately $4.339 billion in 2025, nearly tripling over a decade. In the first quarter of 2026, the growth rate of China's prefabricated building exports reached 45%. In the first seven months of this year, the Shatian Customs under the Huangpu Customs District supervised the export of 23 batches of modular houses, with a total value of 548 million yuan, marking a 7.3-fold increase year-on-year and demonstrating the robust growth momentum of the prefabricated housing export business.

Active Participation of Enterprises

Numerous enterprises are actively involved in the export business of prefabricated housing. For instance, Guangdong CIMC Architectural Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has independently developed an integrated steel structure modular building system, with products covering a diverse range of categories such as high-end office buildings, hotels, schools, and modular data centers, and markets spanning over 20 countries and regions, including the UK and Australia. Foshan Meizong Housing Technology Co., Ltd. has been engaged in overseas business since 2018, with a focus on the Australian and New Zealand markets, primarily targeting apartment hotels, and has even constructed a 19-story high-rise building.

Wide Range of Overseas Applications

Prefabricated housing finds extensive applications overseas, suitable for hotels, apartments, dormitories, office buildings, hospitals, and even data centers. For example, a British merchant purchased Chinese-made modular elderly care apartments. After the 63 modules arrived at Southampton Port in the UK, they were assembled on-site in just two weeks. Similarly, 84 modules shipped from China to Papua New Guinea were transformed into a fully functional hotel upon arrival, with subsequent orders following suit.
