Elder Cousin Prefabricated House

Admin September 18, 2026

In Red Dead Redemption 2, the acquisition and construction of prefabricated houses are mainly achieved through the main questline, with some functions expandable via mods.

House Construction in Main Quests

During the progression of the main storyline, players can construct new houses through specific quests. For example, when the character Uncle complains about the dilapidated state of Beecher's Hope, Arthur, Uncle, and Charles decide to destroy the old house using a horse-drawn rope method. They then go to town to purchase assemblable house components. Charles hires gunmen to escort the assembled parts back to camp, and ultimately, the three of them complete the construction of a brand-new house. This process showcases the game's attention to detail in teamwork and survival simulation, as house construction is not only a key point in advancing the storyline but also provides players with a more authentic Western living experience.

Mod-Expanded House Purchase System

Some mod developers have introduced richer house systems for the single-player version. For instance, the "Buyable Properties" mod developed by Bolmin and Dick Hertz allows players to purchase custom houses on the map during the game's epilogue. Currently, this mod offers three optional house locations: Heartlands, Strawberry, and Rhodes. Players can decorate the interior of the house and purchase outdoor furniture (such as tables, chairs, and decorations) to personalize their living environment. However, the current version of the mod has some limitations in functionality. For example, the houses do not currently support weapon storage, but the developers plan to add a weapon storage cabinet in the next update to further enhance the house's practicality.

Differences and Limitations in House Functions

Houses in the main quests primarily serve storyline needs, focusing on providing basic living accommodations. In contrast, mod-expanded houses emphasize personalization and decoration, allowing players to adjust the interior layout and external environment according to their preferences. However, it should be noted that the functionality of mod houses may fluctuate due to version updates or compatibility issues. For example, the current version lacks practical functions such as weapon storage, which requires waiting for subsequent optimizations. Players seeking a more complete house experience can follow the mod developers' update announcements or provide feedback through the community to drive functional improvements.
