Durability of Container Houses

Admin September 17, 2026

Container houses exhibit high durability, which is primarily reflected in aspects such as materials, structural design, load-bearing capacity, earthquake resistance, and practical applications. Details are as follows:

Material Quality and Strength: Container houses mostly use steel as the main structural material, typically employing weathering steel or standard container-specific steel. These steels have high strength, with a yield strength usually reaching over 345MPa and a tensile strength exceeding 490MPa. The high-strength steel enables container houses to maintain good structural integrity when subjected to external pressure, making them less prone to deformation or damage and providing reliable safety protection for occupants.

Structural Design and Load-Bearing Tests: The structural design of container houses fully considers the principles of mechanics. Their boxes adopt a modular design and are connected through welding or bolts to form a sturdy frame structure. This design not only facilitates transportation and installation but also enhances the overall stability of the houses. In static load-bearing tests, the roof of a standard-sized container house can withstand a uniformly distributed load of approximately 1.5 tons per square meter, and the internal load-bearing capacity can also meet the needs of daily living and office use. Additionally, when the wind speed reaches Level 12 (approximately 32.7 - 36.9m/s), container houses that have been properly reinforced and secured can still remain stable without tipping over or undergoing severe deformation.

Earthquake Resistance Tests: In earthquake simulation tests, container houses that have undergone special reinforcement demonstrate good earthquake resistance. When subjected to a Richter magnitude 6 earthquake, they can ensure that the structure does not collapse, allowing occupants to evacuate safely. In earthquakes below Richter magnitude 5, they generally do not suffer significant structural damage and can still be used normally. This characteristic makes container houses highly valuable for applications in earthquake-prone areas.

Practical Application Performance: Container houses also showcase their durability in practical applications. They are commonly used as dormitories for workers on construction sites and are also rented out as residential units. These application scenarios require houses with high stability and durability, and container houses precisely meet these requirements.
