Dog Toilet Pee Pad Stability

Admin October 16, 2026

The stability of the pee pad in a dog toilet can be achieved through proper padding and fixed-position training.

Proper Padding of the Pee Pad

When training a dog to use a designated toilet spot, an effective method is to thickly pad the pee pad under a grid-style dog toilet. The specific operation involves stacking the pee pads layer by layer until they reach the grid. The principle behind this is that when the dog steps on it, it can still feel the familiar texture of the pee pad. Since dogs have a certain memory and adaptability to the feel of surfaces they come into contact with, a familiar pee pad gives them a greater sense of security and makes it easier for them to accept using this specific area for toileting. As the training progresses, gradually reduce the thickness of the pee pads. During this process, the dog will gradually adapt to the surface of the grid-style dog toilet. At the same time, it won't become confused or resistant due to the sudden disappearance or change of the pee pad, thus ensuring the relative stability of the pee pad in the dog toilet and preventing it from being easily messed up or moved by the dog.

Fixed-Position Training

In the process of training a dog to recognize the pee pad, the stability of the position is of utmost importance. During the training period, always keep the position of the pee pad unchanged. Dogs are animals with strong habits and a sense of territory. When they repeatedly perform the act of toileting in a fixed position and receive corresponding feedback each time, they will gradually form a conditioned reflex. During training, when the dog runs onto the pee pad, promptly give it a treat as a reward to let it understand that using this position for toileting is the correct behavior and will bring benefits. If the dog toilets in the right place, that is, on the pee pad, give it a reward immediately. This instant positive reinforcement will strengthen the dog's memory and recognition of the behavior of toileting on the pee pad. Through such long-term training, the dog will recognize this fixed position as its toileting spot and won't easily move the pee pad or change the toileting position, thus ensuring the non-movement of the pee pad in the dog toilet.
