Do Container Houses Need Wires?

Admin September 17, 2026

Container houses require wires. Wires are crucial components for container houses to achieve power supply and meet daily electricity demands. The following provides a detailed introduction from aspects such as the quantity, specifications, and installation requirements of wires:

Quantity of Wires

A single container house generally requires connecting 1 - 4 wires of different specifications. The specific quantity is not fixed but depends on the types and purposes of the electrical appliances that need to be connected. For example, if a container house is only used as a simple temporary office space, only basic lighting and electricity for a small number of small electrical appliances are needed, and connecting 1 - 2 wires may be sufficient. However, if it is to be used as a living space equipped with various electrical appliances such as lighting, sockets, and air conditioners, then 3 - 4 wires may be required to meet the electricity demands.

Wire Specifications

The wires used in container houses are usually cables ranging from BV 1.5 square millimeters to BV 4 square millimeters. Wires of different specifications are suitable for different electrical appliances and electricity usage scenarios. BV 1.5 square millimeter cables are generally used for lighting systems because lighting equipment has relatively low power and does not require a high current-carrying capacity. On the other hand, sockets, air conditioners, and other equipment have higher power and require wires with larger specifications, such as BV 2.5 square millimeter or BV 4 square millimeter cables, to ensure they can safely and stably carry larger currents and avoid safety hazards such as overheating and short circuits caused by thin wires.

Installation Requirements

The installation of electrical circuits must be standardized, which is an important aspect of ensuring the electrical safety of container houses. It is strictly prohibited to directly tie wires to metal frames because metal is a conductor. If the insulation layer of the wire is damaged, the metal frame will become electrified, and people may get an electric shock if they come into contact with it. All lighting and electrical appliance circuits should be installed with isolation through conduits or wire troughs. Conduits and wire troughs can protect the wires, preventing them from being damaged by external forces and also avoiding direct contact between the wires and conductive objects such as metal frames, further reducing the risk of electric shock.
