Container House Wind Images

Admin September 15, 2026

Currently, there are no direct images showing the actual state of container houses in windy conditions, but the damaged scenes and wind-resistance principles can be described in words.

Typical Scenes of Container House Damage in Windy Conditions

In Baibu Town, Haiyan County, Jiaxing, the container house purchased by Mr. Huang for his parents was severely damaged in an 8-level gale. The container house, consisting of four units combined into an upper and lower two-story structure, had two of the four side wall panels on the upper floor disappear. The metal frame was tilted and deformed, and many roof panels were hanging in mid-air. On the lower floor, a large area of the roof panel in one room fell off, and the remaining side wall panels could be pushed with just two fingers. In contrast, the metal-framed plastic film greenhouse for raising chickens and the grape greenhouse nearby were largely unscathed.

Wind-Resistance Principles and Influencing Factors of Container Houses

  • Wind-Resistance Principles: Container houses use light steel as the frame and sandwich panels as the enclosure material. High-strength galvanized hinges are used for connections between the base and each wall, as well as between walls. They are relatively heavy, with foldable container houses weighing around 1265KG and packing-box units being even heavier, generally around 1350KG. Additionally, a foundation is laid during construction, providing good stability. Theoretically, the popular foldable container houses and packing-box units on the market can withstand winds of level 8 or above.
  • Factors Affecting Wind-Resistance Capability
    • Quality and Materials: The ordinary container house purchased by Mr. Huang had thin iron sheets and shallow-driven nails. When the wind blew, the iron sheets on both sides curled up, causing damage to the house. To withstand winds of level 10 or above, the house needs to be reinforced, and the material requirements are higher, which also affects the price.
    • Construction Location: The house was built in an open and windy location in a field. The wind force might have been stronger than the weather forecast's level 8, which also affected the house's wind-resistance performance.

Performance of Container Houses in Extreme Weather

Under the influence of Typhoon Chaba, a tornado occurred in Chaoshan, Guangdong, instantly tearing iron-sheet panel houses into pieces, while container houses were relatively more stable. However, when Typhoon Yagi made landfall in Vietnam, many container houses there were overturned. This was because the maximum wind force near the typhoon's center reached level 11 - 12 (103 - 133 kilometers per hour), with gusts of level 15, exceeding the wind-resistance capability of container houses.
