Container House Water Supply and Drainage

Admin September 16, 2026

The water supply and drainage treatment of container houses requires special attention to drainage system design, water supply method selection, and waterproofing measures. The specific key points are as follows:

Drainage System Design

The drainage of container houses needs to be planned in combination with the overall structural characteristics. The ground level should be higher than the surrounding environment, and drainage ditches should be excavated around the container body to prevent rainwater from flowing back. For roof drainage, a "V"-shaped canopy design can be adopted to guide rainwater to designated drainage outlets and reduce the risk of water accumulation. Some innovative products, such as the packaged container houses manufactured by Nanjing Changyou Zhizao, effectively drain accumulated water through built-in drainage systems and gutter designs, ensuring dry interiors on rainy days. In addition, the design of the gutter should ensure a reasonable horizontal slope and a scientific location for the water outlet to avoid backflow problems caused by water accumulation or blockage. At the same time, proper anti-corrosion treatment of the gutter is necessary to prevent rust from affecting drainage function.

Water Supply Method Selection

The water supply for container houses is mainly provided through two methods:

  1. Connecting to the municipal water supply system: This is suitable for fixed locations, directly connecting to the public water supply network to meet daily water needs.
  2. Adding water tanks: This is suitable for scenarios without municipal water supply or for mobile container houses. Water is stored through built-in or external water tanks and supplied with the help of water pumps. These two methods can be used in combination. For example, when the municipal water supply is unstable, water tanks can serve as backup water sources to ensure continuous water supply.

Waterproofing Measures

Waterproofing is a core aspect of the water supply and drainage treatment of container houses. The roof needs to be coated with waterproof glue to enhance sealing and prevent rainwater penetration. At the same time, it is necessary to avoid randomly drilling holes in the roof panel to install equipment such as fans and exhaust pipes. If drilling is unavoidable, strict waterproofing treatment of the surrounding cracks is required. During long-term use, it is necessary to regularly inspect the aging condition of the waterproof gaskets of fasteners and promptly replace loose or damaged components to prevent water leakage caused by component loosening. In addition, the waterproof performance of container houses is closely related to the quality of materials. Qualified waterproof materials should be selected, and the construction process should comply with standards.
