Container House Switch Installation

Admin September 15, 2026

The installation of switches in container houses should follow electrical safety regulations and standardized operating procedures, focusing on four key aspects: pre-installation preparation, installation specifications, wiring requirements, and acceptance testing.

I. Pre-Installation Preparation

  1. Environmental Inspection: Ensure the installation location is dry and well-ventilated, avoiding damp or high-temperature environments and keeping away from flammable and explosive materials. For outdoor container houses, choose waterproof switches and install protective covers.
  2. Tools and Materials: Prepare tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, spirit levels, and insulating tape. The switches should comply with national '3C' certification, match the design specifications, and use the same series of products within the same area.
  3. Power Disconnection: Before installation, cut off the main power supply and use a voltage tester to confirm no electricity is present before proceeding with the work to avoid the risk of electric shock from live operations.

II. Installation Specifications

  1. Height and Position:
    • The height of ordinary switches from the ground should be between 1.3 and 1.4 meters, and the distance from the door frame should be between 15 and 20 centimeters, avoiding installation behind doors or in areas prone to collisions.
    • The height difference of switches in the same room should not exceed 5 millimeters, and the height difference between side-by-side installations should not exceed 1 millimeter to ensure neatness and aesthetics.
  2. Fixing Method:
    • For concealed switches, use a dedicated box that fits tightly against the wall without gaps. The panel should be fixed with screws tightened securely, and the use of a single screw for fixing is strictly prohibited.
    • Use a spirit level to adjust the angle of the switch to ensure the panel is parallel to the wall and avoid tilting that may affect the user experience.

III. Wiring Requirements

  1. Live Wire Control Principle: The phase wire (live wire) must be controlled by the switch, and the neutral wire should be directly connected to the lighting fixture or appliance. The practice of 'neutral wire entering the switch' is strictly prohibited.
  2. Wiring Sequence:
    • After stripping the insulation from the wires, wrap the wire cores clockwise around the terminal posts and tighten the pressure heads to ensure no exposed wire cores.
    • Single-core wires can be directly inserted into the wiring holes and tightened with set screws, but ensure no wire cores are exposed.
  3. Grounding Protection: Switches with metal casings must be reliably grounded. The grounding wire should not be connected in series but must be connected in parallel to the grounding terminal.

IV. Acceptance Testing

  1. Function Check: After powering on, test whether the switch turns on and off smoothly and whether the controlled object (such as lighting fixtures) responds accurately without arcing or heating phenomena.
  2. Safety Test: Use a socket tester to check whether the wiring is correct (left neutral, right live, and top ground) and confirm there is no risk of electric leakage.
  3. Appearance Check: The panel should be upright, free of scratches, and fit tightly against the wall without gaps around the edges.
