Container House Switch Installation Diagram
Admin September 15, 2026
The installation of switches in container houses should be reasonably arranged according to the functional requirements of different areas. Here are the key points for switch installation in each area:

Entrance Area
- Switches: At least 2. One controls the entrance light, and the other controls the living room light. It is advisable to place them 130 cm above the ground and 15 cm away from the door for easy lighting when returning home. For apartments with independent public corridors (one apartment per elevator or two apartments per elevator), a switch should also be reserved on the ceiling for controlling the light strip of the surveillance camera.
- Outlets: Reserve 8 outlets, including 1 for outdoor surveillance, 1 for outdoor outlet reservation, 3 for small appliances, 1 for the pipeline machine, 1 inside the weak current box, and 1 for the air conditioner. The heights above the ground are 15 cm and 130 cm respectively, which can be used for charging small night lights, robot vacuums, vacuum cleaners, and other small appliances.
Living and Dining Room Area
- Switches: A total of 5. In the dining room, there is one two-way single-control switch, placed 130 cm above the ground, controlling the dining room lighting. In the living room, there is one two-way double-control switch, placed 130 cm above the ground, controlling the living room lights. There are also switches for the TV background wall and hallway lights.
- Outlets: A total of 13. For small appliances in the sideboard, there are 3 outlets, and the height should be determined according to the fixed sideboard to avoid being blocked. There are 2 outlets beside the dining table. On both sides of the sofa, there are 2 outlets each, placed 30 cm above the ground or 0.3 meters on one side and about 1.2 meters above the ground on the other side placed on the sofa. In the TV cabinet, there are 5 outlets (4 for power and 1 for network), placed 40 cm above the ground. For the air conditioner, 1 outlet is provided, and its position is determined according to the type of air conditioner. The floor-standing air conditioner is placed 0.3 meters above the ground, and the wall-mounted air conditioner is about 1.8 meters high.
Kitchen Area
- Switches: One single-control switch, placed 130 cm above the ground, controlling the kitchen lighting. The number of switch positions depends on the number of kitchen lights.
- Outlets: A three-gang five-hole outlet, placed 50 cm above the ground, under the sink, reserved for appliances such as dishwashers, water purifiers, and small kitchen heaters. One five-hole outlet, placed 40 cm above the ground, under the stove, should be reserved if an electric stove is installed. One five-hole outlet, placed 220 cm above the ground, is dedicated to the range hood. A three-gang five-hole outlet, placed 30 cm above the kitchen counter, is used for small kitchen appliances such as rice cookers, induction cookers, and juicers. One five-hole outlet, placed 50 cm above the ground, is dedicated to the refrigerator. A two-gang five-hole outlet, placed 130 cm above the ground, is for the positions of the steamer and oven.
Bedroom Area
- Switches: One double-control switch at the door and one double-control switch at the bedside, allowing control of the lights from both the door and the bedside. Decorative light switches can also be set according to needs.
- Outlets: 2 near the TV; 1 outlet for the air conditioner; 1 outlet on each side of the bed; if there is a computer in the bedroom, reserve 2 five-hole outlets under the computer desk.
Balcony Area
- Switches: 1 switch to control the electric clothes hanger and electric curtain lights. The electric clothes hanger only needs to reserve a light wire, which can be used by connecting it to the light wire.
- Outlets: 8 outlets, 1 for the washing machine, 1 for the dryer, 1 for the robot vacuum, 1 for reservation, 2 inside the housekeeping cabinet, 1 for the electric curtain, and 1 reserved on the ceiling. Reserve 1 outlet on a blank wall for placing an electric massage chair or having a tea-boiling session around a stove in the future; reserve 1 outlet on the ceiling for hanging lanterns during the Spring Festival.
