Socket Installation in Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

When installing sockets in container houses, it is essential to comprehensively consider the quantity, location, height, and type to ensure practicality and safety.

I. Plan the Quantity and Location of Sockets in Advance

  1. Identify Electrical Appliances: List potential electrical appliances based on the intended use of the container house, such as lighting fixtures, air conditioners, refrigerators, microwaves, and computers, to ensure an adequate number of sockets.
  2. Divide Functional Areas: Divide the space into functional zones according to daily routines (e.g., resting area, working area, kitchen area). Add extra sockets in high-use areas (e.g., beside the bed or desk) to avoid the need for extension cords later.
  3. Reserve Spare Sockets: Consider future devices that may be added (e.g., smart home appliances, electric curtains) and reserve 1-2 spare sockets in key locations.

II. Determine the Installation Height of Sockets

  1. Standard Heights: Regular sockets should be installed 30cm above the ground. Sockets for high-power appliances like air conditioners and water heaters should be installed 1.8-2.2 meters above the ground. Bedside sockets are recommended to be 10-15cm higher than the bedside table to avoid obstruction.
  2. Special Scenarios: Sockets on kitchen countertops should be installed 15-20cm above the countertop for easy access to small appliances. Bathroom sockets should be installed above the shower area and equipped with splash-proof covers to ensure electrical safety.

III. Choose the Appropriate Socket Type

  1. Basic Types: Prioritize five-hole sockets (10A) to meet the needs of most electrical appliances. High-power appliances (e.g., air conditioners, refrigerators) require three-hole sockets (16A) to ensure proper grounding.
  2. Functional Expansions: Install sockets with switches in the kitchen and beside desks to avoid frequent plugging and unplugging. For areas where mobile phones are frequently charged, consider sockets with USB ports to simplify the charging process.
  3. Environmental Adaptations: Use waterproof and dustproof sockets (e.g., IP67 rating) for outdoor or damp areas. For industrial purposes, explosion-proof sockets can be selected to ensure electrical safety in special environments.

IV. Installation Precautions

  1. Professional Installation: It is recommended to have a licensed electrician perform the installation to ensure correct wiring connections and avoid the risk of short circuits or electrical leaks.
  2. Clean the Bottom Box: Before installation, clean the dust inside the bottom box to prevent impurities from affecting electrical contact.
  3. Secure Installation: The socket panel should fit tightly against the wall to avoid looseness or tilting.
