Admin September 16, 2026

Common container house sizes are diverse, mainly divided into two categories: standard sizes and custom sizes.

Standard Sizes:

  • International Standard Dry Containers: Commonly include 20-foot containers with external dimensions of 20x8x8 feet 6 inches (approximately 6058x2438x2591mm) and internal dimensions of about 5898x2352x2390mm; 40-foot containers with external dimensions of 40x8x8 feet 6 inches (approximately 12192x2438x2591mm) and internal dimensions of about 12024x2352x2390mm; and 40-foot high cube containers with increased height to 9 feet 6 inches (approximately 2896mm) and internal height of about 2655mm, providing more vertical space.
  • Domestic General Standards: The general standard size for container house products in China is 6 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height, widely used in construction site accommodations, offices, and other scenarios. The export general size is slightly narrower, at 6 meters in length, 2.4 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height.

Custom Sizes:

  • Flexible and Variable: The sizes of container houses can be customized according to customer needs, such as 3m×6m, 3m×8m, 3m×12m, etc., with flexible adjustments in length, width, and height. For example, there are expandable container houses with a combined size of 3x6x3m (width x length x height), which can expand to 5.5x6x3m after unfolding, increasing the indoor area from 18 square meters to 33 square meters.
  • Special Requirements: In addition to common adjustments in length, width, and height, customization can also include the positioning of doors and windows, the addition of partitions, and personalized design for exterior and interior decoration according to special needs.

Other Specifications:

  • Besides the above standards, there are also special specifications such as 45-foot high cube containers, 20-foot open-top containers, 40-foot open-top containers, and 20-foot flat-rack containers. These specifications are typically used for specific transportation or storage needs but are relatively rare in container house modifications.
