Container House Roof Leak Repair

Admin September 15, 2026

For container house roof leak repair, it is necessary to first identify the cause of the leak, then select appropriate waterproof materials and construction techniques, focusing on treating node areas and properly preparing the base layer.

Identifying the Cause of the Leak

  • Natural Environmental Factors: Prolonged exposure to high temperatures, rain, and the expansion and contraction caused by day-night temperature differences can lead to powdering, cracking, blistering, and delamination of the waterproof layer, resulting in water penetration.
  • Construction Defects at Node Areas: Stress-concentrated nodes such as the base of the parapet wall, drainage outlets, gutters, vent bases, expansion joints, and the roots of pipes penetrating the roof are prone to issues. If additional reinforcement layers at these nodes are neglected during initial construction or simple repairs, repeated deformation of the materials can lead to cracking and the formation of hidden water leakage channels.
  • Human-Induced Damage in Later Stages: Construction activities on the roof, such as building sunrooms, transforming the roof into a garden, or stacking debris, may puncture the original waterproof layer without proper subsequent waterproof restoration. Additionally, long-term accumulation of fallen leaves and mud in the gutter drainage outlets can cause blockages, and prolonged water accumulation on the roof accelerates the aging and failure of the waterproof layer.

Selecting Waterproof Materials

  • Waterproof Coatings: Water-based waterproof coatings can be applied to gaps and should be applied twice with a minimum thickness of 20cm to ensure adhesion and longevity. Products such as the R302plus Outdoor Walkable Waterproof Coating and R320plus Outdoor Anti-Tread Water-Based Polyurethane Waterproof Coating from the Keshun Runtu Exposed Waterproof "Three Musketeers" series can be selected based on different scenarios.
  • Waterproof Membranes: Polyester胎 (polyester-based) waterproof membranes offer good waterproofing performance at an affordable price.
  • Other Materials: For rural roofs, CF-2000 High-Efficiency Composite Waterproofing Agent can be used for repairs, offering environmental friendliness and long service life. Alternatively, a layer of concrete can be poured directly onto the roof or after applying waterproof membranes for added protection.

Construction Key Points

  • Base Layer Preparation: Before construction, remove dust, sand, gravel, and other debris from the base layer surface. If there are height differences, waterproof layer construction should follow the principle of high to low and far to near.
  • Node Treatment: Provide additional reinforcement at node areas prone to water leakage, such as the base of the parapet wall and drainage outlets.
  • Coating Technique: The thickness of the waterproof coating layer should meet design requirements, without cracks, wrinkles, or blisters.
