Container House Landing Spacing

Admin September 15, 2026

The landing spacing between container houses should be at least 6 meters. This requirement is primarily based on fire safety considerations, and the following explains it from three aspects: spacing standards, safety basis, and application scenario expansion:

1. Fire Safety Spacing Standards
According to fire safety regulations, container panel houses, as temporary buildings, must achieve a Class A fire resistance rating (with a fire endurance of at least 0.5 hours), and a minimum safety distance of 6 meters must be maintained between panel houses. This distance aims to prevent the spread of fire: when a fire occurs in one panel house, a 6-meter spacing can effectively block the direct threat of flames, high temperatures, and flying debris to adjacent buildings, buying time for personnel evacuation and firefighting operations. Additionally, the regulations require that fire lanes be reserved around the panel houses to ensure that rescue vehicles and equipment can quickly reach the fire scene.

2. Basis and Extended Requirements for Safety Distances
In addition to the spacing between panel houses, the layout of container houses must also meet other safety distance requirements:

  • Heat Source Isolation: Open-flame operations (such as welding and cooking) must maintain a safe distance from the panel houses to prevent high temperatures from igniting combustible materials;
  • Electrical Safety: Electrical wires and cables must be equipped with protective sleeves, and sockets and switch boxes should be made of metal galvanized boxes and installed openly to prevent electrical failures from causing fires;
  • Storage Standards: If items are stored inside the panel houses, the 'five-distance' principle must be followed (ceiling distance ≥ 0.3 meters, light distance ≥ 0.5 meters, wall distance ≥ 0.5 meters, column distance ≥ 0.3 meters, and stack distance ≥ 1 meter) to ensure ventilation and heat dissipation and facilitate fire fighting.

3. Spacing Adaptability in Multiple Scenarios
In different application scenarios such as construction sites, emergency shelters, and cultural tourism homestays, the spacing between container houses may be adjusted according to functional requirements, but fire safety must remain the bottom line. For example:

  • Temporary Dormitories on Construction Sites: A strict 6-meter spacing must be maintained, and simple firefighting equipment should be provided;
  • Cultural Tourism Homestays: If large-space designs such as double-wing expansion boxes are used, staggered layouts or additional fire separations must be implemented to meet safety requirements;
  • High-Rise Stacked Containers: For buildings with up to 6 floors, it is essential to ensure that the corner fittings are aligned and locked vertically, and measures such as steel structure fireproof coatings and floor-level fire separations should be taken to enhance overall safety.
