Container House Column Installation

Admin September 15, 2026

The installation of container house columns should follow a scientific process, covering aspects such as foundation preparation, component inspection, on-site stacking, lifting sequence, and construction of key nodes, as detailed below:

I. Foundation Inspection and Preparation
Before column installation, ensure that the foundation meets design requirements: the concrete strength of the foundation should reach at least 75% of the design strength; the position, elevation, and verticality deviation of anchor bolts should be controlled within allowable limits; the quantity, specifications, and positions of embedded parts should match the drawings. For example, in the construction of heavy steel villas, foundation inspection is the primary step before lifting, directly related to the stability of the columns.

II. Component Arrival Inspection
When columns arrive on-site, check each one for its number, specifications, length, and cross-sectional dimensions to ensure they match the drawings; verify that the weld inspection reports are complete and that the surface anti-corrosion coating is intact. For example, if the columns of a container house are welded from section steel, ensure that the welding process is full without cold welds to avoid structural safety hazards caused by welding defects.

III. On-site Stacking Planning
Columns should be stacked according to the lifting sequence, with components to be lifted first placed within the operating radius of the crane to minimize crane movement. For example, in the installation of container panel houses, bottom frame components should be pre-assembled on a flat ground or workbench to avoid time-consuming adjustments on-site.

IV. Lifting Sequence and Fixation
Column lifting should follow the principle of "columns before beams," progressing symmetrically from one side to the other or from the middle to both sides. After each column is in place, temporarily secure it with guy ropes, adjust the verticality deviation to within H/1000 (where H is the column height), and finally tighten the anchor bolts. For example, in the installation of container mobile homes, square tube columns and steel beams should be fastened with screws and adjusted for verticality using a plumb line to ensure structural stability.

V. Construction of Key Nodes
Column base nodes should be anchored with anchor bolts, with the bolts tightened in two steps—initial and final tightening—to achieve the design torque; the space between the column base plate and the foundation top surface should be grouted tightly. For example, in the column installation of container houses, using section steel with integral galvanizing or spray anti-corrosion treatment can significantly enhance structural durability.
