Size Recommendations for Portable Toilets at Construction Sites

Admin September 27, 2026

The size of portable toilets at construction sites should be selected based on a comprehensive consideration of the number of users, site conditions, and functional requirements. Here are some common types and recommended sizes:

1. Single-Person Portable Toilets

  • Regular Model: Length 1.1 meters, width 1.1 meters, height 2.3 meters, or width 1.0-1.2 meters, depth 1.0-1.5 meters, height 2.0-2.5 meters. These dimensions are suitable for single-person independent use, offering compact space that meets basic needs. They are commonly found at temporary locations on ordinary construction sites and small event venues.
  • Mini Single-Person Model: Length 1.0 meter, width 1.0 meter, height 2.2 meters. With a smaller volume, it is suitable for areas with high foot traffic but limited space, such as small exhibitions and commercial streets, although the internal space is relatively cramped.
  • Single-Person Standard Model: Approximately 1.2 meters × 0.8 meters × 2.2 meters. This size has a slight reduction in width, making it suitable for small construction sites set up temporarily or areas with fewer personnel, balancing cost and practicality.

2. Double-Person Portable Toilets

  • Regular Model: Length 1.8 meters, width 1.1 meters, height 2.3 meters. It can accommodate two people simultaneously, reducing queuing time and is suitable for team-building venues, outdoor camping areas, and other scenarios that require multiple people to use the toilet at the same time.
  • Double-Compartment Model: Approximately 1.8 meters × 1.2 meters × 2.4 meters. The interior is usually divided into two independent compartments, each equipped with a toilet seat and a sink, and some are also equipped with mirrors and storage racks. It is suitable for small and medium-sized construction sites with a relatively large number of construction personnel, improving convenience of use.

3. Multi-Compartment Luxury Portable Toilets

  • Size: Generally 3 meters × 2 meters × 2.5 meters or larger. The space is spacious, and the internal facilities are complete, possibly including a sink, a mirror, a trash can, a ventilation system, and even an aroma system. It is suitable for large construction sites or projects with high environmental requirements, significantly improving user comfort.

4. Accessible Portable Toilets

  • Size: The width should be ≥1.5 meters, and the depth should be ≥1.8 meters, or length 1.8 meters, width 1.5 meters, height 2.4 meters. This design reserves space for wheelchair rotation, facilitating use by people with mobility impairments. It is commonly found at large construction sites or venues that need to accommodate accessibility needs.

5. Special Requirement Sizes

  • Adjust the overall width according to the number of toilet seats. For example, the width of a double-seat portable toilet is approximately 2.0-2.4 meters.
  • Some construction sites will customize special specifications according to actual needs, such as increasing the height to adapt to terrain undulations or adjusting the depth to match the limitations of transport vehicles.
