Construction Site Mobile Toilet Setting Norms

Admin October 16, 2026

The norms for setting up mobile toilets at construction sites cover requirements for site selection and installation, quantity and configuration, daily management, environmental maintenance, safety and emergency response, as well as other special requirements, as detailed below:

I. Site Selection and Installation Requirements Mobile toilets should be placed more than 5 meters away from the construction area, away from water sources, fire sources, main access routes, material storage areas, and foundation pit edges to prevent damage from construction activities or accidents. During installation, ensure the ground is level, use expansion bolts to secure the toilet and prevent tipping, harden the ground, and create a drainage slope to prevent water accumulation and freezing. A minimum of 1.2 meters of clearance should be reserved around the toilet for easy access and cleaning, and the site should be covered by nighttime lighting.

II. Quantity and Configuration Requirements Based on the size of the construction site, one toilet should be provided for every 50 construction workers, with a recommended ratio of male to female toilet stalls of 1:1.5. For landscape and garage construction sites, one toilet stall should be provided for every 50 people. Mobile toilets inside buildings should be installed every four floors, with one toilet per installation and only one stall per toilet. Special scenarios require adjustments to the configuration. For example, if the landscape construction site is connected to the municipal sewage network, water-flush toilets equipped with handwashing basins should be installed. During garage construction, the toilet roof within the tower crane's range should be reinforced with bamboo fencing.

III. Daily Use Management Dedicated personnel should be assigned to clean the toilets at least twice a day (morning and evening), using 84 disinfectant to sanitize high-contact areas such as toilet stalls and door handles, and unclogging pipes at least twice a week. Cleaning tasks include flushing toilets, wiping surfaces, and replacing garbage bags. Managers should post usage instructions at the entrance, clearly prohibiting the disposal of construction waste or flammable materials. During peak usage periods, additional cleaning frequency should be deployed to ensure no blockages or odors. If blockages or leaks occur, the rental company should be contacted immediately for repairs.

IV. Usage Environment Maintenance No clutter should be stored in the toilets, and smoking or disposal of construction waste is strictly prohibited. Workers should flush the toilet promptly after use and keep it dry. During hot summer months, ventilation equipment or air fresheners can be placed to improve odors. Toilets should be equipped with non-slip steps, handrails, and emergency call devices. The maintenance structure should include exhaust grilles, and projects with the means should install exhaust fans.

V. Safety and Emergency Requirements When temperatures drop below 0°C in winter, insulation measures should be added to the water tank or antifreeze products should be used, and antifreeze agents should be added to prevent freezing. Smoking or the use of open flames in the toilets is prohibited, and electrical wiring should be protected with conduits. Check the grounding device before thunderstorms. In adverse weather conditions (such as heavy rain or strong winds), the toilets should be reinforced in advance. If blockages or water and electricity failures occur, warning signs should be set up, and repairs should be contacted. If someone is injured, the emergency plan should be activated, and the scene should be protected.

VI. Other Requirements Dry toilets inside buildings should be cleaned by dedicated personnel and emptied daily. Toilet distribution maps and guide route maps should be posted in prominent locations on elevators and floors. The construction site should display clear usage signs to guide workers in proper usage.
